Don't even bother. Since Mike is gone, this place has gone downhill. The other day my husband had to eat something. So I told him to get a sandwich at Sals. He got sausage peppers and onions All they keep telling him was that "It's Pasquale 's recipe " what a crock!! I took a bite and the red sauce was disgusting. I had such bad indigestion it required about 10 tums. But the kicker was my husband got the worst case of food poisoning. That was the only thing he eat all day. Sandwich at 4pm. Vomiting all night and part of the next day. Don't go there!!!

This place is good but I don't understand why they can't hire more staff, no matter what time of day you can either be the only one in there and you'll wait easily 5 + to get help.

I have been a resident of Howard Beach my whole life and have been in Sal's Food Market quite a few times. As of recently, I have seen them go downhill catastrophically. I didn't want to make this review and I never review but going into this establishment and witnessing this gross and illegal behavior as well as my few past experiences and this was my last straw and made my stomach churn. I saw the manager named Pasquale (a rude man by the way, yelling directions to me where to find an item like I'm stupid) drop burger patties on the floor behind behind the deli and he picked them back up and put them on display for people to order. The floor is dirty as sin behind the deli and he will make people extremely sick with these unethical and illegal business practices. I don't know why Pasquale would do this, does he not have regard for other humans and their health? The health department really needs to look through this place. If they did a thorough search, it would be shut down. I wouldn't give food from this deli to the rats on the street and the even ones they have inside the facility (rat poison in the deli and near the ATM machine). Most of the fruit and vegetables stay on the shelves for way too long of a time and are rotting away. My chicken cutlets I ordered were slimy, stinky and he overweighed them by almost one pound! I checked the weight on my scale at home. He weighed it in at 3.47 lbs but it was actually only 2.61 lbs of chicken cutlets. Did I mention that the chicken cutlets had a hint of Clorox smell on them too? That explains the Clorox bottle I've seen a few times near their work station. Had to throw them out. So not only is his food bad and poisonous but he overweighs and overcharges you for it too! Such a scummy scammer. I'm lucky I haven't gotten sick from his poisonous dirty floor food. I will never go into this "establishment" (if you can even call it that) ever again. I would not recommend ever going into this place unless you really want food poisoning.

Overpriced chopped cheese, no flavor, very disappointing. I was sincerely disappointed by the decline in quality of this establishment over the past few years.

I’ve been shopping at this store since I was a young kid with my mom. I love this store and the new owners are absolutely amazing! Food is always fresh and I don’t go anywhere else for my meats.
Most horrible sandwich ever. Ordered grilled chicken with mozzarella and roasted peppers, the guy microwaved the chicken for four minutes and them put it on the sandwich. Was not even edible and they charged $11 for the sandwich.
