A coffee spot that serves a crave-worthy kale salad!! My prayers have been answered. Everyone there is incredibly kind, and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. It's a great spot to work solo, meet with friends, or people watch out the front window or at one of their outdoor tables. It's a great little spot that will quickly become a fave!

I’m hesitant to leave a review only because I want to keep this place a secret! Ithaca can thank it’s lucky stars that Hound and Mare is here. From the best egg sandwiches around, to coffees that rival any NYC shops, this is the spot. Best of all, the vibe is on point with super hip, friendly baristas that always make me feel welcome. Thank you Hound and Mare!!!

Excellent breakfast sandwiches, pastries and salads! Love that it is female owned and inspired by family recipes! The service is efficient and the ingredients fresh. We love the pacific and melrose sandwiches. A maple or lavender latte is also hard to pass up!

When I enter the shop I'm greeted by the friendly staff, warm smell of coffee and baked goods. The food is delightful and makes me think of home, so far away. A far cry above the rest, Hound and Mare makes me feel like royalty when I find my seat, waiting patiently for my order to be called. With personalized names on each order, even an idiot like me can't mess it up. My eyes well with tears of joy as the NY Maple Latte slides delicately down my impatient gullet. With the option to add an egg (cooked to my choice) on every single thing I order, I am never displeased here. If you have impeccable taste, irrational nerves, or social phobia, this spot will calm your frazzled nerves. Perhaps you are running from yet another test, or your boss has a derelict ash tray of a soul... You'll find your place here. I suggest you give it a shot, of pure caffeine naturally.

Really good coffee and baked goods as well as sandwiches. They also offer gluten free and vegan options as well.

The atmosphere is nice. The guy (with blue fingernails , beard and glasses) that took my order wasn't overly friendly. Three coffees took waaay too long to make and there were only two people ahead of me in line. My cafe mocha tasted more like hot chocolate. Prices weren't outrageous or anything. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I ordered a sesame bagel with cheese and a hot chocolate. I should have ordered open face since there was only 1 small piece of cheese for the entire bagel. That's on me... it was fine for a quick breakfast and the hot chocolate was good.

Dietary restrictions: Since I can't eat eggs and didn't want pastry for breakfast, I was limited to one item, a bagel.

Breakfast sandwiches were delicious and under priced. Service was great. The accommodated 3 GF orders we had perfectly and the cafe had a nice atmosphere. One of my favorite finds in Ithaca. Good on the staff and owners. Wonderful small business.

Kid-friendliness: Seemed totally fine for kids.
