I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The chicken katsu was delicious. The raw fish was tasty (although the rice was a bit hard). The service was kind and patient. Given how far Ithaca is from an airport and Japan, my expectations were very low but Plum Tree surpassed them by miles.

Gave me food poisoning
Great sushi, service, and atmosphere! The rolls here are delicious and the waiter was very kind, although he was very busy so it was hard to get his attention sometimes. Overall would definitely recommend!

The food was very delicious and the waitress were very kind!! I recommend it :D
Went there to eat as a family. The place was not too crowded and our table got us comfortably. We were near the sushi station which was nice as we did order some rolls. We got appetizers including the fried chicken and potatoes and some ramen and udon bowls too.
Solid place. Fair prices, decent venue, and quick service.

I’m on my deathbed from mercury poisoning because I couldn’t stop eating spicy tuna at plum tree. They always say that on your deathbed, you regret not spending enough time with your family. I regret not spending enough time with the plum tree staff. If I could do it again I would, but I can’t. I’ll be dead by morning.

If you have a hankering for Japanese bento (lunch box) food, Plum Tree is "barely OK". It's conveniently located just steps from Cornell University's campus. Service was fast & attentive. However, the bento box lunch was blander than at any other Japanese restaurant I have visited. For lunch, I had the Chicken Tonkatsu (chicken strips fried in panko crumb batter) w/plum sauce - delicious. But the accompaniments (cold under-salted edamame; meh California roll; boring house salad & dumplings) were all so flavorless. At $14.95, the price was a bit too high. // Interior decor also needs help: The burgundy booth seats, crimson painted walls & salmon-colored floor tiles sorely assault the eyes & do not match. Tone it down. So, one star for atmosphere.
