We were recently in Ithaca to Xmas shop on a Tuesday and had a heck of a time finding a (non chain) restaurant that was open for lunch. Red's menu is extensive and diverse and what we got was very tasty. Thumbs up for Red.

Our family popped into Red’s for lunch. We had an hour and 10 minutes. We had to take one meal to go and another was inedible - food uncooked, salad undressed. A third dish, a salad, wasn’t anything to write home about. The 4th meal for our table, a burger, was ordered medium and was bunt on one side. We were told after 25 minutes of ordering that the oven had died. We never saw a manager and nothing was taken off of our check. Poorly run establishment.

We had the flatbread and caesar, the ricotta appetizer and the harvest salad. All delicious. We sat at the bar. Hostess and bartender were borh friendly and prompt.

The shrimp and chicken at Red's House that I ate outside were fantastic. The chicken was a little salty for me, but I would go back. The staff was also friendly.

“Swim Shady” is a surprisingly delightful sandwich on ciabatta, and the side salad with arugula and maple balsamic dressing is delicious. “French Onion” is a delicious burger with caramelized onions, fried onion pieces, garlic aioli and sharp cheese. The side of fried sweet potatoes was crisp and hot.
Wait time: Meh ok Food: Surprisingly excellent. I had the New York State of Mind and it was amazing. Same for the Fun Guy. Service: Blatantly understaffed but friendly. Drinks: My wife’s mixed drink was the worst mixed drink I’ve ever tasted. Order something without bartender influence.
Will go again for the food, wait and service need a lot of work, fire the bar staff.

Burger was good but huge - couldn't finish whole thing. My sweet potato fries were overcooked - hubby's steak fries were perfect. Margaritas were great. Service was good.

Went last night and was so upset to see your proper pig flat bread was discontinued. I asked the waitress and she said it was because of the price of bacon. Please PLEASE consider putting it back on your menu. Even if you have to charge more for that pizza. People will understand. It's too good to get rid of!!!
