Shi Miao Dao holds a special place for me—it was my very first restaurant visit after moving to Ithaca. My husband took me to Collegetown on a weekend, and we walked in without any plan at all, which made it feel even more special. We tried the Spicy Beef Brisket Rice Noodles, and as a spice lover, I absolutely loved it—rich, comforting, and perfectly bold. The service was attentive and welcoming, and overall we had a really great time. A spontaneous visit that turned into a memorable first food experience in Ithaca.

It seems this isn’t an authentic Shimiaodao restaurant. The soup appears pre-prepared, ingredients are of poor quality, and the dining area isn’t well maintained. Prices are high, though the owner is quite friendly.

Everything was delicious! Staff was friendly.
I had the spicy soup base, which was tasty, but the meat was extremely tough and not fresh—it was so unchewable I had to spit it out into my napkin. This place is very expensive: my pickled pepper beef bowl cost nearly $20 with tip, and there were only about five pieces of meat, none of which were edible. I’ve tried this place twice in the past year, and both times I ended up vomiting at home afterward. Since my friends who had the tomato soup base were fine, I suspect it was the pickled pepper soup base. It might be a coincidence, but I would not recommend this place to my friends.
Craving some comfort food this chilly late autumn / winter? Look no further! I stopped by for an early lunch at 11:45 AM, and their spicy noodle broth was an absolute game-changer—so flavorful, so warming, and exactly what my tummy needed. This spot is perfect for gathering with friends (trust me, the more, the merrier). Plus, the friendly staff and super clean atmosphere make it a dining experience worth coming back for.
Highly recommend giving it a try!

Like other Chinese noodle places, the broth tasted like MSG.
Tastes very artificial.

If the product is not the right version, it would still be acceptable if it doesn't have the "Yunnan Crossing Rice Noodles" sign.
There is no Yunnan Crossing Bridge Rice Noodles. The picture is an advertisement and must have been borrowed. I guess the boss and the chef don’t know what Crossing Bridge Rice Noodles are like!
Pre-prepared dishes, mainly takeaway.
It’s okay for student parties to occasionally want to taste the taste of Chinese food!
