Okay. I do love my friends who perform drag and burlesque here, and I'm glad there is a place for them. But I have to be real. Not a fan of the racism I encounter time and time again. Last time, the white male bartender just kept igoring me, the only PoC at his end of the bar. The white fratty-looking dudes who elbowed their way next to me, also apparently here for the Beyoncé night with their girls were the ones who got his attention. The PoC bartender tho? They/she looked like they took him aside, talked to him, then took my order after what felt like FOREVER trying to get this man to please stop putting all the other white patrons before finally talking to me. The PoC bartend took over & let me order, making me feel like crying with relief. I looked at the white group right in their eyes...all who saw me and cut in, confidently knowing this bartender would choose them. If I wanted to be real cynical, I would say it's a grift between staff that preys on the vulnerabilities of PoC in a white town to finally get seen after being treated as lesser...because I tipped generously for being treated like I deserved to be there. But I refuse to believe QPoC would do this to their own. And the PoC bartender seemed genuinely real, and for that, I really appreciate what they do, looking out for their fellow PoC in the space. But from where I stand, it looks exhausting to have this as a whole second job...I know the feeling. It's the Ithaca experience. I do have to appreciate the queer white femmes who DID treat me with grace, giving me space, letting me approach the bar to tip the PoC bartender who takes my order almost every time and who I believe saw how shitty I was being treated and swooped in to look out. They even told the bartender I was leaving extra tips for them. They are the allies we need in these spaces! I appreciate them. But yeah...the tall AFAB femme drag performer who was a drag child of my AMAB colleague...I did not appreciate how they treated me (an AFAB femme PoC) like a predator for buying him a drink. I felt less than human, and felt disgusting being treated to a buffet of the twisted type of racialized microagressions only white queer folks can deliver. It made me never want to return. And I didn't for a long time, even when I tore it up so much on the dance floor that Spirit Posse gave me swag. The PoC of this space make it humane. But that same night...I saw a white woman inappropriately grope a Black person performing on stage. They had to remind her about consent, which they likely made a regular thing because of how often it happens at Thursgays. I didn't see her at the last couple ones when I returned to go back to supporting friends who perform...but they really need to do better to make this space safer and less stressful to exist in as a PoC. It's not worth me being the "Duke" of this joint if I can't relax and enjoy the show, the drinks, or the dance floor. They may not be the Trump flag waving folks 30 mins away, but this is a Get Out flavor of distress I don't think makes it worth return visits.

You really need gender neutral bathrooms if you are going to host one of the precious few queer events in town. Most of Ithaca is better than this. The drinks are cheap.

Horribly rude staff and bouncer. Charges a cash cover at the door

even if you manage to elbow your way through the swarms of drunken college kids/children, you'll die of thirst waiting for a drink....at least the music was good, otherwise def not worth the cover.

I’d suggest bartender “Bobby”, please take your stupidity elsewhere if you can’t read names on credit cards; if you are at all not stupid but just wanna steal my card do it in a smarter way. Your F words and your power move weren’t so effective more like humiliating yourself acting like an infant can’t own up to your own mistakeThe Range will do better without you

Had a great experience at Driftwood's New Year Eve show here. Great sound and light show.

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. Bummer service and even rude door bouncer. Maybe one day they can get their groove together. Don't waste your time here, there are plenty of other accommodating bars on The Commons to enjoy with your friends and family.

Still requiring proof of Vax after all this time ? I suggest clearing out the urine smell that blasted me in the face as soon as I walked up the stairs before you concern yourself with others medical status. Liberal college towns ruining America.

The range could be a vibe... it once was. It's way too packed on the weekends, but more importantly:Please, for the love of God, turn down the volume during the live shows. It is physically painful to be in the space when people are performing.

We went to the Range last night for my friend's concert. We were on the guest list and we also had special permission written in an email, from the owner, stating that we could bring our daughters with us. When we got there the bouncer (who was quite snooty), refused to let us in. Both the bouncer and the bartender, were extremly dickish about the whole thing, and absolutely refused to even look at the email from the owner. My friend worked really hard to make this happen for us, only to see us being treated like we were common criminals. It was completely embarrassing. We drove like 45 minutes just to see our friend's band perform only to not be allowed in. Well that was enough for me. We will never go back there ever again! There was no reason for this. My wife and I are consenting adults who would never have let our teens leave our site let alone drink. NYS law states that as long as there are consenting parents accompaning their children at a bar, it's permissable. Needless to say, I nor any of our family, will ever spend our money at this establishment again! The treatment we received was harsh and completely uncalled for.I can see why the establishment was so empty at 10:30 pm. on a Friday. Why the hell would anyone want to go to a place where they are going to be treated so badly! Good luck staying in business with angry jerks like that working for you!

The staff are just wonderful, the Range is always hosting great music or great events from burlesque bingo to drag to funk, they really get it. Miss the popcorn though, thanks covid! :/
