I loved this place, Husband and wife team were very nice. Sushi/Sashimi always was high grade quality. Service was always fantastic and respectful. Chef would always recommend and educate me on new Saki that I was willing to try. I will miss them, sorry to hear they closed.

So the lady that owns this place along with her husband, is very rude. RUDE and SARCASTIC. My partner and I have only been there twice already and both times her attitude was horrible. She's very bothered by simple questions, for example I asked her if they had peanut avocado rolls, her response was so negative. " What !? We don't using any peanut, this is authentic Japanese " - what a response. I really don't want to get too much into detail with her attitude itself but it really needs work. One thing I will state is that she treats other white customers very differently. The food is decent, okay at best, but nothing so great that it warrants her attitude.

I gave it 2 stars because the price is quite affordable for the size of their second portion. I got to say that it's quality is so much lower than what I expected. I read about this restaurant from the recommendation of Newsday, and they gave it a fairly good review. However, it's just not what I got. I have eaten from many sushi restaurants, some in New York, and some in Japan and Taiwan. And this is just way below standard. The fishes easily fallen off from the rices and the fishes, while fresh, weren't very high quality. For example, the tuna was so plain in taste and hardly any fat.
I've been coming here for years and the chef has never one disappointed. He pours true creativity into his food and it's amazingly delicious.

Ive been going to this place for past 15 years but things do change. Sad to see the place and service have gone down in quality. Clearly ordered Sashimi Makoto Special and I was brought SUSHI makoto! Waiter was not listening or paying attention I guess. Place was empty. My guest ordered sukiyaki and it was like the sole of a shoe. Waitress blamed up for not ordering RARE- like that would made a difference. Oh well. There are other much better Japanese restos now in Long Island.

We've been coming to Nagashima for decades - literally! It's a well-known local neighborhood Japanese restaurant that's cozy and serves traditional Japanese cuisine. The sushi chef has been there since the very beginning, I'm pretty sure. To this day, we've only had decent to very good experiences eating here. I enjoy coming for the spicy tuna handroll and gyoza, but I'm certajn that there are many other items on the menu that are enjoyable. I'm awarding Nagashima 5 stars for speedy/solid service, consistently good cuisine and reasonable price points. Che

Great sushi, the service is very nice, and the restaurant is very clean. I would definitely go here with a small group because the prices are expensive, and the more people you have, the longer it takes for the meal to arrive
