I'm afraid I have to disagree with the notion that COVID is the cause of the inadequate customer service that has washed over restaurants. On the contrary, I think that restaurants would be happy to have patrons supporting their establishments and do their utmost to ensure patrons have a fine dining experience. But unfortunately, this was not the case at 308 Prime, located in the Holiday Inn in Johnstown, New York. On Saturday, June 18, after driving five hours in horrendous traffic from Long Island to Johnstown, my wife and I were tired and hungry and decided to freshen up and head to the 308 Prime for dinner. My wife insisted on Applebee's; however, I persuaded her to try something different. The restaurant was relatively empty, and we were promptly seated at approximately 6:05 pm. It was about 6:15 pm when a lady, who turned out to be our server, rushing to another table, clamored, "I will be with you two in a few minutes." At approximately 6:20 pm, an amiable server named Maria approached our table. We placed our order, salmon for me, chicken for my wife, and two glasses of white wine. Maria brought the glasses of wine relatively promptly, and my wife and I began sipping slowly. Time slowly rolled on, 6:40 pm, 6:50 pm, nothing; no updates. We were discussing that our meals must be fresh as they took this long to prepare. Finally, at 7:05 pm, Maria clamored again, "Your dinner will be out shortly." At approximately 7:15 pm, our stomachs were eating themselves at this point; I motioned to a server, Laurie, and asked if we could have some bread as we had been waiting for over one hour for our dinner. Her attitude and response were incredulous! She growled, "You only get bread if it comes with your dinner!" At this point, our server, hearing the commotion, approached Laurie to find out what was happening. Laurie proceeded to growl at Maria that bread only comes with certain meals, which Maria never explained to us. I explained that we would happily pay for the bread if it did not come with our meals. We then heard Maria expressing, "I can't take this anymore." After this exchange, we were utterly disgusted, and my wife asked to speak with the manager, Jim. A few minutes before Jim approached our table, Maria brought the food at approximately 7:25 pm. To add insult to empty stomachs, the food did not look fresh and appetizing. Jim explained the restaurant was short-staffed and apologized for the mishap. Guess where we left and went to dinner? Yes, you guessed it...Applebee's! The moral of the story, one person's obnoxious behavior can stain the reputation of an entire establishment, or sometimes a brand! I will also be sending this review to Holiday Inn, as I have been an IHG member for decades, and they need to be aware of the caliber of establishments associated with their brand.

Food is okay, service was not good.. Server lacked the personality and energy of a employee that gives a hoot (kept it clean), she has all kinds of opportunity to make better money if she just smiled once or twice. Soup was not hot, definately something nobody gave a hoot about. Salad had nothing special to offer. The vegetables were over cooked, mashed potatoes were tastey as was the entree. Dessert was good but 100% store bought. As a hotel guest, I was a captive audience. Unless it snows, I will leave the hotel to eat for sure. It's a shame...

Got a takeout dinner from Prime and it was fabulous! I had Salmon Picatta and my husband had a steak. Both were really good. If you’re trying to support a local business during this difficult time, consider Prime!

I’m staying at the hotel and I have to say that the restaurant has excellent food and the atmosphere is decent. Most dinner meals come with a soup or salad (French onion is wonderful) and fresh made rolls. It is a pretty quiet place with a fireplace and lots of tables. Good for large groups or work dinners.

Food was SO good! Was delivered promptly and cooked as requested. Staff was attentive but not intrusive. Atmosphere overall was welcoming. Very happy with my experience here.

This place has really good food. Was in town for 2 weeks and ate here at the bar nearly every night. The bar staff were super friendly. Never had a bad meal here.
