I've been going to the Plaka since I moved into the Buffalo area in 2009. Such a warm and inviting place. We go there for all sorts of family celebrations or just for a bite to eat anytime because we know the food will be good, the service warm and friendly, the owner- delightful! I have my favorites- chicken souvlaki, beef souvlaki, beer battered fish fry on Fridays is a must all year round! And their hamburgers are always a tasty treat. Also their french fries are exceptionally tasty! The staff always remembers us which is a very nice perk! I like supporting a local business, especially when the prices are so reasonable! There's free parking out back or street parking in the front for a small fee. Highly recommend!

The Plaka is hands-down the most precious gem of Kenmore! The owners and their staff are the sweetest, kindest folks you could ever ask to meet. Every dish is savory and delicious. The service is fast, friendly, and always attentive. And the pricing is the fairest of any restaurant in the region.

The atmosphere is calm, quiet, and perfect for conversation in the company of a friend or loved one. It's a magnificent escape from the troubles of the world and the hot meal complements the experience exquisitely.

I bring every guest to my home to The Plaka to share its cozy homemade vibe with the people I love. It is truly the jewel of the Village. All I need is The Plaka's delectable Eggs Benedict in the company of a dear friend on a Sunday morning to make my weekend experience complete.

Support this unparalleled family-owned local business and keep them with us for generations to come! <3

Website and sign outside said they were open till 8, so we walk in at 7, and the waitress tells us they close at 7:30. I asked if she wanted us to leave, and she said no. So she brings us menus and proceeds to tell us they're out of everything we tried to order. Like, just tell us you're trying to close early. One of the weirdest "dining" (we didn't get any food, so I guess I can't really call it that) experiences of my life.

It's your grandpa's diner. It's a classic and a staple for the area. The food is made with love and the servers have been there for decades it feels. Go and get some delicious food. I had one of the specials, a falafel melt and it was truly so good! Please put that on the menu!

Old fashioned diner. Be prepared to step back in time with the decor. It has limited hours but the food is good. It is a popular Sunday brunch spot for church goers.

The food is AUTHENTIC. ABSOLUTELY, CHRIST, AS A RESTAURANT THAT EVERYBODY CAN AFFORD. IT'S NOT MCDONALD'S. IT IS A WONDERFUL FAMILY OWNED RESTAURANTS. THE GREEK FOOD IS AMAZING, VERY AUTHENTIC, AND THEN PLENTY OF DISHES THAT STRICTLY WONDER BREADS AND BOLOGNE, YOU CAN ALSO ENJOY. THE DESSERTS ARE TO DIE FOR YOU. 'LL NEED TO SEE IF JOANNE. THE OWNER IS THERE BECAUSE HER COME ON, COME, I'M GONNA GET WRONG. COME KAMALUCKY, THEY'LL KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN IF YOU SAY THAT.
IT IS OUR GO TO COMFORT FOOD AND JUST MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER. WHEN YOU WALKED OUT THEN, WHEN YOU WALKED IN THE WAITRESSES. CARE I'M SORRY COULDN'T CARE ANY MORE THAN THEY DO. IT'S YOUR FAMILY WHEN YOU'RE THERE. I RECOMMEND YOU GO TO AT LEAST. TRY IT ONCE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT. DON'T GO BACK BUT IF YOU DO AS MY HUSBAND AND I DO, IT IS OUR GO TO RESTAURANT. WHEN WE'RE CONFUSED, WHERE DO WE GO? WHERE? WHERE SHOULD WE? WHAT? WHAT ARE YOU IN THE MOOD FOR GO TO PLAKA? YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH YOUR GENEROUS PORTIONS AND YOUR PRICE POINT.PLEASE GIVE IT A TRY

Obviously, one of the charms of the Plaka restaurant is its vintage decor and menu. It must be pointed out, however, that the menu has probably not been updated in a little while and offers side dishes like ā€œhomemadeā€ corned beef hash. Unless ā€œhomemadeā€ happens to be a brand name or their chefs are exceptionally skilled at making a product that closely mimics that which comes from a can, you may want to avoid that. Also, the ā€œAunt Jemimaā€ brand name for syrup product was discontinued in mid-2021. Almost all foodstuffs have a ā€œBest By Dateā€ or ā€œSell By Dateā€ that is generally indicative of an optimal range for using the product. Sadly, the Aunt Jemima brand syrup product we were served probably belongs on a collector’s shelf and not on the customer’s table. We also got a mild chuckle out of the well worn (and dated) labels on the other condiment bottles (none of which we used out of an abundance of caution). At that point we purposefully directed our attention away from the vintage aspects of the decor and ate our reasonably good (and hopefully not equally vintage) breakfasts.

Definitely, go for the decor. But be aware that the period accuracy of the decor may extend to food products placed on your table.
