They really nailed the late 1970s Soviet vibe. It's weird and welcoming at the same time. It smells like onion and meat outside and when you first walk in. I know that's an odd observation, but it's the same smell every time. Reminds me of Bubbe's house. Oddly comforting. The food is really good and pretty cheap. Their breakfast is what I go for, eggs toast bacon and coffee. Had cabbage rolls there once, was great. Homemade soups are good, too. The help is pleasant. Sorry I don't have a picture. But check it out for something different.

I've been here many times in my life. Today might have been the last. Ordered a 1/3 burger with fries and an unsweetened iced tea. The tea had old, soft to the touch lemons on the rim. And the tea itself tasted funny. Might need to clean thier lines or machine. Burger tasted like I was eating a piece of meatloaf. The fries were actually perfectly cooked and tasted great. The very old looking plastic Hienz Ketchup bottle on the table did not have Hienz Ketchup in it. Way too watery. The Frank's hot sauce bottle has something other than Frank's hot sauce in it (lable was missing). When the waitresses asked how everything was, the person I was there with just got out of his mouth that everything was ok (which his was not either. He was just being polite) and she took off before I could address anything. When I was ready to cash out, I still had food on my plate and a full glass of tea. You'd think she would have asked if everything was ok. Or when I cashed out. When she herself cashed me out. But she did not. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed in my decision to stop there to eat.

The Plaka is a blast from the past. I used to go there with my grandma and it feels the same. ♥️ It's pretty reasonable priced good diner food.
Food was good, service was good, really no complaints. It was a pretty normal diner experience. Just wasn't blown away by the Greek breakfast, no tzatziki or Greek dressing offered, so that's why I didn't give 5 stars. They sent our sons meal out first, which helped us keep him occupied longer. That was a nice touch. We will be back.

I've been eating at The Plaka for many years, and I have always found the experience warm and friendly. The owners, Sam, Joanne, and Tully have always gone out of their way to make customers feel at home. The waitresses always go out of their way to provide first rate service to their customers. Service is quick, efficient, and the food is always well prepared. There are many times when eating at The Plaka when I feel like I'm at home, enjoying a meal with friends and relatives.
