Perfectly prepared pan seared duck breast with risotto and vegetables.
French onion soup made with duck broth absolutely outstanding
All this done to my delight as earlier in the day I had told the chef I had Alpha Gal allergies and couldn’t even eat french onion soup because it is made with beef broth
Kudos and many thanks to the Chef
I believe this was the best meal I ever had
Plus absolutely delicious corn bread.
Nothing overlooked

We went to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We started with some cocktails at the bar. Loved my cocktail and we chose to sit by the gas fireplace. For dinner we both had the specials which took a little bit to come out. They served us some delicious lobster bisque while we waited on the house. I had the duck special and it was perfectly cooked and the sauce was incredible. It was a perfect romantic experience. Will go back for sure!

Beautiful restaurant. Service, food and atmosphere are second to none. The French Onion Soup is not to me missed. Shepard's is a great dining experience.
Excellent restaurant in a beautiful hotel. Food is excellent. Unfortunately, I do not appreciate having to pay a deposit. Sick at the last minute and had to go anyway as they were not able to accommodate a future meal during my stay in the area. They would not refund the deposit.
Everything was excellent I would definitely make Erlowest a go too while on vacation in Lake George
Anniversary dinner on a Friday night, offseason in Oct. Made reservations ahead of time, but there didn't seem to be much demand during our visit. Ordered onion soup and lobster bisque to start. Onion soup was excellent, lobster bisque was flavorful but not having much in the way of discernible lobster meat. Entrees were grilled elk and Airline chicken. When ordering the elk, was informed medium rare was the preferred cook and I confirmed, however when receiving the item it was very well done. I chose to send it back and it was replaced without question. The second was cooked appropriately. We finished off with the warm brownie and hot honey peach cobbler. Both were excellent.

We came here to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and the food was delicious, the server was so nice and they gave us a little “happy anniversary” dessert on the house at the end which was so special and sweet of them!

Restaurantji Recommends
The food was delicious, though very expensive and portions were small. Ambiance was amazing.
Great food and the staff is very nice. Scenery is beautiful. I'd recommend anyone to the Shepards. Very warm welcoming feeling
The food and service were great! The history and architecture was beautiful yet I do think they should have some music playing because it was so quiet you had to whisper
Unless you've been there, the restaurant is not easy to locate. It's down a hill and literally no signage. We actually walked through a wedding reception looking for the restaurant. It was very awkward and uncomfortable. Wedding reception staff tried to direct us where to go. Once we were seated and found the restaurant, it was cozy and charming and the meal was spot on. Like other people have complained, hard to enjoy the scenery with weddings happening so dont assume you have free reigns to walk around the property. Service was very good. Overall friendly and accommodating, though seemed annoyed that we complained about difficulty finding the place- almost like they've heard it a million times before. I would eat there again.
The food was wonderful, except for Filet Mignon. It was cooked to medium, which is what I requested. However, the filet really had no taste, bland.
