This place was a million times better years ago. Idk what happened. The bread was hard as a rock. The coleslaw was sweet. The macaroni salad looked like it was at its last stage of life. I was given a completely different salad than what I ordered. The replacement was missing items, the chicken was awful and there was a hair in my water.

I have been coming here for years atleast 15 years. I absolutely love and adore Lilly. She is who keeps me coming back. The food is iffy but her service is amazing. The owner is rude and disgruntled and doesn’t have a smile, happy bone or thank you in his body but he watches that register like a hawk. I go in once a week, get the cheers hello, greet Lilly and she just brings me my order which never changes. It’s a home away from home but if she was to ever leave so would I.

I frequent this establishment on doordash. I mean the product is great, BUT if im being transparent the orders arent being looked at fully. If ya order a burger deluxe it should hsve options for fries OR onion rings but no such luck. I put in notes and i guess they are overlooked. I mean they great food and service but dint expect the changes you request. This morning , son ordered my breakfast french toast deluxe no ham sub with more sausage. Ya think ya listen, nope of course no ham, but yet again didnt substitute the ham fir sausage as asked AND I CALLED UP AND THE SAID OK!!!! I think i need to just find another diner close by... JUST KNOW FOOD HERE IS GREAT THEY JUST DONT FOLLOW THE REQUESTS WELL

Sherwood Diner has the feel and menu you expect with a classic diner, but I've had much better food and service at other diners. The first time I went, I ordered the French toast (kind of a diner staple). It barely had any flavor to it, and honestly looked like a few pieces of very slightly cooked toast with some syrup haphazardly thrown on a plate. The second time, I got an omelette, which again was pretty underwhelming. The third time, I got French onion soup and a pizza bagel. Being in New York which is known for both pizza and bagels, I expected it to be pretty good. It seemed like something I could've thrown together in a microwave at home. Our waitress this trip was also pretty rude. She acted like I was dumb when I asked a question. When my mother-in-law's order came out incorrectly, she said that we ordered incorrectly and it wasn't her fault. My mother-in-law ended up just eating the wrong order to avoid a scene. I almost gave two stars, but gave the benefit of the doubt with 3 because my family does like this place. Overall, I'm not expecting anything gourmet, but I think the quality and cozy feel you expect from a diner could be better.

Something in the food caused me to break out in hives! We are traveling so thank goodness I carry benedryl. The restaurant has deteriated so much. My husband travels from LA to NY and has enjoyed this diner for 28 years. How it has 4.2 stars is amazing! We will never go back! The health department should shut it down!
