We had a delicious authentic Italian dinner. (We live locally in Margaretville and wanted to try this spot for the first time). We had the Caesar salad, two pasta dishes, and a dessert. Overall the food was quite good. Our only issue wasn't with the food--but that they overcharged for one of our pastas dishes. The Rigatoni is $20 on their most recent menu but they charged us $30 instead. I hope it was just an error...because it felt icky.

Really nice place, we came in 7 minutes before closing and they welcomed us in. Food was really good and the service was excellent. Atmosphere was good, but the bathroom light was shot. All in all, 4.7 stars. Will be back the next time I come up here.

We were expecting a great dinner considering all of the highly rated reviews, but we now believe the high ratings may be old/outdated. Upon walking in, the restaurant appeared slightly dirty, not a huge deal for us. The staff were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, we found a cockroach in one of our meals. We told the staff and they were apologetic and comped that meal. Hopefully this restaurant makes improvements and thoroughly cleans so that this never happens again.

Loved it! We came to Trattoria as a party of 5 girls in town for a bachelorette trip. Our bride was craving Italian/pasta, and the restaurant absolutely outdid our expectations. Our server Daryl was amazing! He went above and beyond making us homemade simple syrup for our drinks and was so accommodating. The food was delicious and we were able to enjoy our dinner outside in peace, which is all we could’ve asked for. We made sure to tip him well and hope others visit and do the same!

Absolutely worth the detour — Trattoria Locale is a hidden gem tucked in the mountains, and hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in the area (where, let’s be honest, great food can be hard to come by). The cooking here is genuinely excellent — everything feels thoughtful, homemade, and full of heart. You can taste the care in every dish, from the perfectly balanced sauces to the rustic pastas that rival anything you'd find in a big city trattoria.
It’s the kind of place you root for — locally owned, passionately run, and full of potential. If I could add one tiny suggestion (with love!), it would be to bring a touch more warmth and charm to the space itself — just enough to transport you straight to a cozy corner of Italy. A few more inviting touches could really make it the destination it deserves to be.
That said, the food alone is reason enough to keep coming back — and I will. This place is a treasure, and I hope more people get to discover it.

Thought we were popping into one diner and ended up at this incredible little establishment! Gorgeous views, overly generous portions, and a taste that belongs in a huge city with lines wrapped around the building! Do your tummy a flavor favor and stop in!
Also be prepared to take a doggie bag home!

Quite disappointed, menu is vague and food is brought out with sauces, garnishes, etc. that was not listed as present on the menu. Part of my group loved their dishes, others did not. Tables are spaced out awkwardly giving a sense of emptiness to the whole place, decor is lacking and the place feels run down. Wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to go.
Very yummy! It seems like this restaurant moved from its original location a couple years ago. No frills space, yummy food. Hard working staff. Cash only.

Service was so awfully rude and dismissive that I’m glad I went elsewhere. We arrived as a walk in and I tried talking to someone to ask if they’d seat walk ins tonight. No one behind the counter made eye contact and staff would simply walk by me (and another couple) in the front while mumbling things under their breath. The couple called them multiple times throughout the day to try and make a reservation but no answer. Business and staff clearly don’t care.
They also only take cash, so definitely not worth the extra trouble to eat here.
