Awesome variety of apples and good prices, laid back environment and not too busy on the day we went. Just what we were looking for. We’ll be back!
Love LynOaken farms- my favorite spot for apple picking hands down!
The best place to pick apples!
Absolutely fantastic place to pick apples. They had some really interesting varieties and I’m a huge apple snob. It wasn’t far to walk, although you could take the tractor. Trees were easy to pick off of and everything was clearly labeled. Bought some cider and donuts which were exceptional. My kids also were able to launch rockets and had the most fun. Definitely found our new apple picking place, totally worth the drive.
We’re calling this THE APPLE MUSEUM.
My husband grew up in a hot climate and had never been apple picking. For his birthday we checked this off the bucket list.
This was a sleeper orchard for a plant lover! The staking and pruning method keeps the trees at about a max of 10 feet tall with even and easy to reach branches for families with tiny humans. If you grew up with massive old growth apple orchards (like I did) this might be a surprise, but it really did make the harvesting easy and they do indeed have stunning old trees grown in this style that are as old as 200 years! Each breed is clearly labeled with its origin location and year of cultivation.
My FAVORITE part of this spot was the Heritage Apple section which was almost 20 rows off showing off individual trees of various breeds of apple tree with the oldest variety we saw from the 1200s! If you don’t know about apples, let’s nerd out for a moment. Apples produce genetically unique seeds (not unlike humans) SO every Granny Smith apple you’ve ever had is a graft or clone of THE original Granny Smith tree. If you plant every seed from a Granny Smith apple, zero Granny Smith trees will grow. Wild right!? This means that the winter Pearmain from England I the 1200s is genetically identical to that first tree and it has SEEN SOME STUFF! It was thrilling to be able to taste the Balleyfatten apple which would have been growing in Ireland during the time my family was still living there.
We went to another good orchard that had lots of activities, but the apple museum was still our favorite. If you want to taste a massive variety of apples this is the spot. There is a lovely onsite winery and tasting room with local ciders, wines, and beers.
We had the most fun today. This is our new preferred apple picking place. They had some really interesting varieties that were delicious. We also bought some apple cider and donuts which were wonderful. My kids also got to launch rockets today! We will be back for the tractor ride.
One of the best orchards I've been too so many varieties dating back from 1200 to present day as well as speciality apples and the history of the orchard is a reason to stop by as well
Great service, nice place
I go here for the apples. Their Sweet Tango apples are the BEST!!
My husband and I took a drive to this apple orchard last weekend. We spoke with Katie who gave us interesting information on the variety of apples, of which there are many, and a little family background. I felt like I was on a field trip. She was very nice and personable and you could tell she was very passionate about their family business. We enjoyed walking around and looking at the different varieties of heritage apples that I understand some dating back to the 1600’s. The apples we picked were flavorful and delicious. Everything was well marked. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you LynOaken for a fun time.
