Friendly staff and owner.. Food fresh and good. Relaxed atmosphere
Service is friendly, delicious food was served without delay. Really good hometown experience.
If first impressions truly do count, then Mona's Cafe is ahead of the game. Upon opening the door, we found a spotless dining room, with shiny clean tabletops and comfy booths, and a row of larger round table in the middle to accommodate slightly larger parties. The walls are a sunrise yellow and they are complemented by the warmth of dark wood wainscoting and trim. Recessed lighting and folksy art on the walls complete the warm and welcoming farmhouse vibe. There is counter seating as well that offers cushioned chairs with backs - not the "hurry up and eat" type of backless stools prevalent in most diners. The kitchen is straight ahead of the counter and rather open, so it’s clear the food is indeed "home cooked." Service was prompt and courteous. Menu offerings were standard café fare, with breakfast and lunch served until 2. The coffee was excellent, served piping hot in mugs, and refills offered. Our group of three decided to choose lunch options. A burger was ordered, and we were pleased to find it was not of the flat-patty fast food type. The burger was of generous size, cooked to order, juicy and delicious. The Mona sandwich, a “cousin” of the Rueben, with turkey, Swiss, and Russian dressing on grilled marble rye, was yummy! The fries were disappointing, kind of tasteless and most likely of the frozen variety, but that was the only minus. A suggestion would be to make those fries from real potatoes, skins on, and I bet they’d sell as a side order to accompany other meals as well. We do plan to return soon and try the breakfast options. All in all, Mona’s Café is a great find on Main St and adds to the charm of Middleburgh. Thank you.
Great Food, Great Staff, Great Prices! Always super clean and food is always on point! I eat here often as it's in walking distance and set right in the middle of town.
