Well today I had my first visit to this restaurant. I had high hopes because I drive in front of this place all the time and it looks classy yet traditional so I said why not ,Food was okay. Not the greatest thing trust me im Mexican I know Mexican food, The atmosphere is loud it's a busy place if it's a quiet place you seek this is not a place for you it was loud because there's a lot of people which is a good thing it means people like the restaurant,the service, however !it's a different story. I was greeted by Clara. She took my order and that was the last I saw of her until she came over to give me the check. She didn't check on me at all not once I get it she was busy attending other tables with much more people I was just 1 person so obvious the more people the bigger her tip but that doesn't mean you shouldn't treat one less than the other right ? I told her not to take the menu because I wanted to order a drink I was waiting for her she knew I was wanting to place an order for a drink, half way into my meal I went up to try to order it at the bar and I was told it takes 10 minutes to to make so I decided not to take the drink because I was almost done with my meal and then once I got back from the bar she came over to ask if if everything was fine and if I needed the check I told her about the drink and that I my self went to the bar to order it she responded with I walked by you were reading a book nooo you should have said ok I'm back are you ready ? Not even an acknowledgement after I told her about the situation she smiled said ok I'm be back with the check I for sure will not be coming back here for a 34$ bill no thank you I eat so much better with better service in other places I enjoy

El Jalapeño Charro is tucked away in the Big V plaza in New Windsor. The atmosphere is very nice. The service is impeccable and the food is uterly scrumptious. Two mexican fare. The portions are just right, not too much, not too little. Stair cocktails are insanely good. They fill up fast Friday through Sunday. So I would definitely recommend we're reserving a table. During the week, if you get there before six, it's generally okay. They have become my hmm. That's a local favorite restaurant. I will drive thirty minutes to eat there.

This is such a fun, amazing and delicious restaurant! It’s so beautifully decorated inside and everyone was so nice. And there were pretty nice prices. I had the charro bowl and a Mexican coke. I was shocked that I ate the whole thing but it was so good and keeps you wanting more and more. This place was also such a fun, family type place where in fact someone had a birthday and they came in with drums, cake and sombreros. And there was also a guy singing live music which was so nice and made the place so much more lively along with all the booths being filled. It made me feel like I was in a movie. I’ve had their food before and have always wanted to come and experience this place. And I’m glad I did! I definitely will be recommending it and coming back!

We celebrated my husband’s 30th birthday at Jalapeño Charro by the bar, and everything went perfectly! The staff went above and beyond, the bartender was amazing, and the prices were so reasonable. The manager was also so friendly and made sure we felt taken care of the entire night. Everyone was attentive and welcoming. Thank you to the whole team for making our celebration so special, we’ll definitely be back!

Went for lunch on Friday, was not sure what to make of the place as there was only one other couple there and the place is huge, forget about that. The staff was very friendly and helpful and their chips and salsa went very well with a tasty Margarita. My wife and I were very impressed with the plating, not your run of the mill slopped together mess, somebody really took their time to make our meals pleasing to the eye as well as the palate. Although it is quite a drive for us we will definitely be back. thank you for a most enjoyable lunch. You guys are a keeper!

Recently we “re-discovered” this gem of a Mexican restaurant several years after our first visit. While the food is outstanding, what differentiates El Jalapeño Charro is the warmth and friendliness of the staff and service. Maybe because we have gone off-times (before noon or mid-afternoon) where they could afford to provide extra attention, but the conversation and seeing the staff’s adorable toddler amble by shows that you are definitely NOT in a chain restaurant! In addition to the excellent entrées, the Marguerites are outstanding but you need to leave room for the incredible fried ice cream which is lit as it is placed on your table to just melt the edge of the ice cream ball. A definite must visit.

Came in based on google reviews and while clean and well decorated - we were slightly disappointed with the food.
It’s not that anything was bad, but just lacking in flavor.
The service was good, not great. Their chips and salad were decent. We ordered queso to dip our chips in, but it wasn’t real great.
Our meals were slightly lacking, too.
Perhaps we caught them on a bad night, but we weren’t super impressed.
