Asked for an Italian sub toasted on normal sub bread. Person on the phone said on a panini? I said no on regular sub bread but toasted he kept saying so on panini which I kept saying no. But he was persistent on making it how he wanted it so after the 4th time I said sure to the panini sandwich which was absolutely awful. Took one bite of it and to the garbage it went. Completely soggy which is why I didn't want it on a panini but I guess the person answering knows best.

Great spot for a deli sandwich

I ordered a chicken parm hero. I watched the lady make it first of all she cut it all way in half, then overloaded it with sauce on both sides of the sandwich. Then she microwaved breaded chicken then proceeded to put it under the oven to melt the cheese. At this point I get it sitting in my car going to eat it the chicken the sauce all fall out onto my seat and onto my legs. Anyone that owns a deli should know you do not cut the the sub entirely in half when you're putting sauce on it. I will not go back there again.

I think the best Deli in Newburgh! Great portions, fresh meats, everything homemade. The owner is very sweet, always kind and ,even when busy. Everyone there has great dispositions. It's a pleasure going there! Linda Colandrea

The service was good and the people were very friendly. However, I had taylor ham, egg and cheese on a bagel and a small coffee. It cost $9.50. The sandwich was very underwhelming. The sandwich had very little egg and ham. It wasn't worth the cost. It was the smallest stacked sandwiches I've ever had. Extremely disappointing.

Disappointing Experience – Overcharged Without Explanation

I visited this deli for lunch and ordered a meal priced at $11.99. The cashier told me the total was $12.96, which matched the expected tax. However, I was charged $14.53 instead. When I asked for a receipt, it wasn’t provided until I specifically requested it. I questioned the discrepancy, and the cashier casually said he didn’t have his glasses, then immediately moved on to the next customer—no apology, no refund, no accountability.

This kind of careless handling of transactions is unacceptable. Customers deserve transparency and respect. I won’t be returning.

The very best deli around the area... never had a bad experience at Matson's. Food is on point. Crew is phenomenal.. in the mood for a breakfast sandwich in early mornings I can always count on matsy. Thank you somuch for the good work folks.

I had a very disturbing experience at Matson’s Deli that left me feeling racially profiled as a young Black Amazon delivery driver.

When I came in to deliver a simple package of chips, the older bald man immediately questioned my position as an Amazon worker, spoke to me rudely, and ignored me when I asked for the recipient’s name. He then suspiciously examined the package as if something was wrong with it, gave me dirty looks, and continued to question the delivery for no valid reason. After repeatedly dismissing me, he finally said “have a good day” in a passive-aggressive tone, which only added to the disrespect.

The most concerning part was that after I left, watched me closely walk to my car, and stood there staring at me until I drove off. The entire interaction was hostile, unnecessary, and made me feel unsafe.

His actions have been reported to Amazon because of how unsafe and uncomfortable this experience was for me.

No worker should ever be treated this way for simply doing their job. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and it reflects poorly on the business.

My husband went back home to the Hudson Valley from PA, he must have repeated himself about his amazing breakfast sandwich topped with a hash brown multiple times. He couldn’t say enough about how thrilled he was to have a NY breakfast sandwich. He mentioned the place was packed and service was great and quick. Not at all surprised that it was a great experience. Thank you Robert and crew!

I have gotten many subs and different types of sandwiches and meals from this establishment and it’s always top notch. Fair pricing and good service. Kind but true New Yorkers behind the counter so make sure you know what you want and be sure to order in a timely manner lol
