Very historic cozy tavern in the city of Newburgh. Parking is adequate, restrooms are antique and not expected to be perfect. Service was above average but wasn't fully knowledgeable about different wines. Food was very good, we had the Beef Wellington, Liver Pate, Apple Cobbler, Spiked Root Beer Float along with salads. Recommend all. Prices seemed good for fine dining. Nice experience and will return again.

A nice place with good staff, atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. We had dinner with friends after a symphony concert. We arrived ahead of what we were told would be a full house and were advised to get our orders in quickly so we could have our choice of menu options. Orders placed. Crowd arrived. Full house. Busy, yet not chaotic. No rush on table turnover. Food was good and the house staff was efficient and cordial.

One of those memorable meals that you think about the next day. Still thinking about the extraordinary pumpkin soup, the perfectly done, crispy, delicious branzino filet with the best roasted potatoes ever accompanied by perfectly prepared fennel. The chocolate mouse was light, airy, beyond delicious. Best food with great service and relaxed, old fashioned ambience.

We are in Newburgh for the weekend and didn't know any restaurants. We went to Open Table because we've never had a bad recommendation. The restaurant was a gem. Located in a 200+ year old tavern, it has a lot of charm and old world details. It was obvious from the conversations around us that this is a popular spot for locals. I began my meal with a Jalapeño Margarita. It had just the right amount of kick with a nice lime freshness. My wife and I each had the New England Clam Chowder from the specials menu. It was tasty with lots of large pieces of clam. My wife had the Steak Frites and I had a boneless Veal Chop. Both were delicious and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we shared a Creme Brulee. Glad we chose this place for our dinner.
This was our first time here. We went for happy hour at the bar then we had a reservation for dinner .The bartender was awesome. Drinks were perfect .He talk to us about the history of the building .It was fascinating. We had dinner in the dining room .Our server Todd was just wonderful .He was very friendly and attentive .The food was so delicious. We will be back soon .I recommend this restaurant.

The character and history is only surpassed by the food! Monica took excellent care of us too. A must eat place if you're in the area!

Unbelievable service and dining experience. The food was insanely delicious and the tavern ambiance of the restaurant gives it a very romantic rustic vibe.
This place has been around since 1801—starting out as a stagecoach stop, later transforming into a Prohibition-era speakeasy, then part brothel, and now a fine dining restaurant. Yet most people whiz past it in their cars, unaware that this unassuming old tavern serves some of the best cocktails and cuisine in the Hudson Valley.
If you arrive early, you might be lucky enough to run into the owner—warm, welcoming, and hospitable—who just might let you in through the backdoor as he opens the place.
Wander through the creaking, narrow corridors and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped through a portal: time travel, in real time.
What an experience. This is what makes the Hudson Valley an inscrutable gem—there’s always something new to discover.

Feels very fancy, not sure we were ready for that. Everything was quite expensive and small portions. Tasty, but not like the description in the menu. I expected a bit more to be honest. Wait staff were fine. Overall everything was ok, but I probably won't be going back.
