River Japanese Cuisine - Oakland Gardens

The sushi here was really good. Everything tasted fresh and well-made. I tried a few different rolls, and each one had a nice mix of flavors. Definitely become one of my favorite sushi spots. The rolls here are very unique and I love the presentation of them. The staff was friendly and service was quick, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, it’s a great spot to enjoy some tasty sushi!

Awful service/ experience. My friend and I ordered food at the same time as the table next to us. 15 mins later they started getting their food. Server goes back, proceeds to bring out more food for a table that came after us. Then she brings out more food for the table next to us. We politely asked what’s happening with our order. She said she would check. 5-6mins later walks right past us without an update, comes back out with food for someone else. At this point it’s been we’ve been waiting for over half an hour. The table next to us actually finished their meal and we did not even get the soup or salad that comes with our rolls. If they would have just apologized or at least acknowledged there was a mistake, it would have been fine. I cannot even rate the food since we never received it. Ended up leaving, went to the Cantonese restaurant next door. Food was great and came out in a timely matter.

I had an order of 🍣 tune roll and crab roll and a few other rhings . Very thing was very tasty. Our delivery person Ashley did her thing to get our order home fast via Uber eats.
I haven't been to this place, so I can't talk on the atmosphere.

WHEN YOU GET THE BILL, THEY WILL CHOOSE THEIR OWN TIP AND THEN ADD IT TO THE BILL AND TAX THE TIP. AFTER I CONFRONTED THEM, THEY SAY IT THE A COMPUTER ERROR. BUT THEY DON'T TELL YOU THAT UNTIL YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH. TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF.

The food is served slowly, the service is poor, the quality of the food is poor, and a 18% tip is mandatory. Whoever comes will regret it.

We love salmon sashimi, so we chose all you can eat, the food served in the order of speical rolls, appetizers with large portion and then sashimi without 6 pieces of salmon sashimi. We had to request a second order with 6 pieces salmon and 6 pieces of scallop sashimi, it took at least twenty mins but still no salmon from first order, so we had to request a third order, when the third order arrived, the size of salmon and scallop sashimi was cut into half, and it was not as fresh as expected. Also, mandatory 18% of tips was added to the bills. It was a terrible experience...

I never write reviews but this place gave me the worst food poisoning I have ever experienced. Look at the meat you serve before serving it. It was the only thing I ate yesterday so it must be the place that gave me food poisoning. 1/5.

Me and my family and friends used to frequent this location a lot back in the day (8-10+ years ago). Back then, all the regulars knew that River Sushi was the sh!t. The AYCE buffet was awesome, and on the weekends, it was always packed. Nowadays, the place is almost always pretty empty even on the weekends. The food quality has taken such a nosedive that I don't even know why I still go. Maybe it's close to my residence? The AYCE buffet is so not worth it anymore. They also jacked the price up to $40, and the service is slow and inattentive. Just found out today that 18% gratuity is automatically applied to your bill but yet they still leave a tip option on the bottom of the check. Most people probably tipped twice without realizing it. So River Sushj, get your sh!t together!
