I recently took a group of 12 students to Old Forge to climb Bald Mountain for Utica University Outdoors Club. The first trip was 10/06 and we ate at Mountain Side Bar and Grill. Unfortunately, they did not open till 4 pm. We had to quickly find another place to eat. I called The Front Door Diner and they were more than happy to accommodate a large group on such short notice. Our server, Sydney, was very friendly, helpful, and respectful. She did a great job and we hope to return...
Food was good, really enjoyed the Buffalo wrap. The waitress wasn't rude but she wasn't friendly either. She didn't greet us just asked what we wanted to drink. Never smiled, and I have no idea what her name is. The atmosphere is quaint, but outdated, could use a new ceiling and a new coat of paint. Would not go back here.
I'm guessing this is a super classic upstate NY diner. Wedges instead of fries. That kinda detail seems regionally specific. Regardless, it was tasty and friendly. Wish I was there in the later hours to see what's going on in the dive bar... Aka "the back door"
