Nice little spot on the river.
We have eaten here multiple times and always had good experiences ( except one time we were seated near a table of sea hags who loudly talked about how much they loved smoking weed all the time and how if the principals at the schools they worked with only knew).
Besides the sea hags the service is always very friendly and attentive.
The food is great and the drinks are cold.
You can sit outside in the warmer weather and they have a separate serving area closer out by the river in the warmer months.
It's worth a trip to this cozy little spot.

I'm so glad we took the time to stop in here. Driving to it was a bit sketch for us Texans, but it sure was worth it! They were so kind, the atmosphere was quaint, and the food was amazing! We ordered the calamari, which was fried perfectly, and the accompa ying sauces were perfect. We also ordered lobster rolls, which were still being served cold, and they were so fresh with the most perfect flavor. I would highly recommend stopping in, especially if you're visiting and want some good seafood.

We had a great lunch outdoors at The Boathouse in Ossining, overlooking the marina — such a beautiful and relaxing spot. My husband started with a Bloody Mary that came with two perfectly grilled shrimp, $18 buttery and well-seasoned. I had an Aperol Spritz, light and refreshing.

We shared the steamed clams in a red pepper and bacon broth — the clams were plump, and the broth was so flavorful we used the warm homemade bread to soak up every drop.

Our server was friendly and efficient. My husband wanted fish and chips but asked to have it on a roll, and the waiter suggested a po’ boy version with a little spice. It was a huge sandwich — crispy, it wasn’t overly battered and moist inside — came with really good fries.

I ordered the warm lobster roll - MP $37 (by mistake, I meant to get the cold one!) and it turned out to be fantastic — whole pieces of lobster claw and knuckle meat, just butter on a soft bun, simple and perfect.

The patio has about ten covered tables with a great view, and the inside is comfortable, air-conditioned, with a nice bar area. Everything from the food to the service was superb . We’ll definitely be back — next time I’m getting that cold lobster roll!

On a crisp morning when my wife and I set out for a day of fishing. We’d barely left the marina when the port engine started grinding like a coffee grinder with a grudge. Turns out, my wife forgot to lubricate the lower unit during our last maintenance. I lost it—yelled something about how she’s turning into her mother, that woman from Staten Island who once tried to color-code my toolbox. “You’re getting her same pinched face and that tone that could scare a seagull!” I shouted. She snapped back, stormed below deck, and left me to wrestle the helm as the current took us. The engine gave out entirely, and before I knew it, we’d drifted downriver and bumped against the pilings near The Boathouse, stranded like a couple of fools.

I tied up to their dock—way too polished for my beat-up boat—and trudged ashore in my grease-stained jeans, intending to ask for a phone to call a tow. The place looked like a nautical theme park, with fake nets and a ship’s wheel that’s never seen saltwater. But the smell from the kitchen—garlic, spices, something zesty—stopped me cold. The hostess, who eyed me like I was a shipwreck survivor, sat me at a table overlooking the river. I was just going to make my call, but the menu caught my eye, and somehow I ended up ordering the Chicken Scarpariello.

Let me tell you, that dish was absurdly good—ridiculous, even, for a place playing dress-up as a sailor’s tavern. The chicken was fall-apart tender, the sausage packed a smoky punch, and the peppers and potatoes swam in this tangy, lemon-wine sauce that could make you forget a broken engine. It was hearty enough to fuel a full day on the water, and the flavors hit harder than a nor’easter. I washed it down with some overpriced “craft beer” that wasn’t half bad, sitting there watching the Hudson ferries glide by. The staff, decked out in striped shirts like they’re auditioning for a yacht club, were quick and friendly, even if the whole nautical vibe felt like a satire of my actual life.

I came in to borrow a phone and left stuffed, satisfied, and almost forgetting my wife’s turning into her mother. The Boathouse is over-the-top with its decor, but that Chicken Scarpariello? It’s worth every penny. Five stars from this old sailor—just make sure your lower unit’s greased, or you might end up here, too.

Not all items on the menu are up to my expectations, the clam chowder is below average.
The outdoor sitting area is great.

The Boathouse is rated #1 in Ossining for a reason. The food and the service was impeccable. I ordered the panko crusted halibut and it was absolute perfection. We sat on the patio and had the best view of the Hudson.

Do not go to this establishment. A reservation was taken in a service dog was accepted a time of reservation. They seated us outside in the Sun. And then when I asked to move to the shade, they said, no, they need all their tables, they said the dog was too big, they made every excuse to get us out of there. I would not go to this establishment. Also, the view is of a parking lot in the back of a boat yard. So there's no real aviance outside I can't speak for the food they would not serve us.

Had an AWESOME experience during our first (and certainly not our last) visit to The Boathouse, which was recommended by friends who work in the Ossining area. The nautical vibes were great and totally fitting as we dined at a table inside the restaurant with the sun setting behind us. The food - amazing. I definitely recommend the spicy crab fries, the Halibut, and the seafood pot pie. We also had the salted caramel brownie (UNREAL!) and fruit crisp (NO CRUMBS LEFT BEHIND!). That being said, everything on the menu looked great as we watched other meals being served to nearby tables - will definitely be trying them all!

My biggest takeaway, though, was how great the service was. Michelle and Brian were THE BEST! In fact, we will be returning regularly on Monday evenings to see the crew who took such good care of us yesterday evening. ASK FOR THEM WHEN YOU VISIT!

In response to Meghan D's review tonight... I witnessed this situation firsthand, and I feel it’s important to share an objective perspective.

My party had a reservation (which is strongly recommended at this location, especially on busy summer nights), and while waiting to be seated, we observed the interaction between this walk-in guest and Laurie, the manager on duty.

Despite being incredibly busy, Laurie was doing her best to accommodate walk-ins who didn’t have reservations. The guest repeatedly confronted her about the wait time. Laurie calmly explained the situation and even showed the guest the waitlist to be transparent about the order of parties. The staff was clearly doing all they could to manage a full house and still show respect to everyone involved.

Unfortunately, the guest's behavior became increasingly tense and inappropriate. She used VULGAR and offensive language toward Laurie, in earshot of other diners, including families with children. She also took it upon herself to walk into the kitchen area to express her frustration to the staff there—who were not involved in managing the waitlist and appeared confused by the situation.

My party, along with others, was shocked by her tone and language. We felt compelled to say something because her behavior crossed a line from frustrated to outright disrespectful.
The professionalism and patience displayed by Laurie and the entire staff was absolutely impressive. They handled the situation far better than most would have.

The reality is, hospitality staff work hard to create a positive experience for every guest—especially during busy times. It's important to recognize those efforts and extend patience and understanding when things don’t go exactly as hoped. Being KIND costs nothing.

Came here with my husband and toddler- we were walk ins and expected there would be a wait. We were told the wait would be 45 mins to an hour for first available table.

We waited for 2 hours. We were patient. We checked in twice. Each time (at 75 mins and again at 2hrs) “it’ll be about 15 mins” and when I got mad that we’d been repeatedly given bad information, Laurie the (seemingly) manager, told us that this is what we should expect showing up to a restaurant on a Saturday without a reservation. She also sat people who were behind us on the list ahead of us and said “oh well” when I pointed that out (at the 75 minute check-in, she told us there was 1 seating ahead of us and then sat 4 groups that were behind us). She then told me that I did not arrive around 6:30- which isn’t true- we paid for parking at 6:18 and walked straight over.

We’ve been here plenty of times with no reservation- we’ve never been treated so poorly. It’s now almost 9pm, we’ve been here since 6:30, and we have to find somewhere else to eat dinner and feed our toddler. Had they been honest and told us that it was a 2 hr wait, we would have simply gone somewhere else with no hard feelings, and come back another time.

Truly disgusted by this treatment, especially after acknowledging that she sat other people ahead of us who were behind us on the list. I hate bashing local places but this one genuinely deserves it after treating a patient family this way. I’m sure if I’d pitched a fit at the one hour mark, I wouldn’t be writing this review after the two hour mark.

**editing to add- we ended up at 3 westerly down the street. They were super busy but took care of us when they heard what happened. My husband and kids food came out right away- mine was delayed by about 5 mins- not significant at all. Because of the teeny tiny delay in my food, they comped my food, and a round of drinks despite me asking them not to.

There’s customer service, and then there’s not. I highly recommend 3 westerly
