I was staying at The Otesaga Hotel and breakfast at the Glitterglass Restaurant was part of the package. Because of the COVID pandemic the buffet was closed so we had to order off the A La Carte menu. I really liked that. The waiter I had was really nice, mask and all and he said this was the first time they ever did it this way. He said that I could order what ever I liked and as much as I wanted, which I thought was better than a buffet. This way the food was fresher and there was no waste that you see on a buffet. The food here is excellent. I started with a three egg omelet with ham and Cheddar Cheese with a side of potatoes (they were cold), a side of bacon and toast. Even though the potatoes were a little luke warm the whole meal was delicious and after I finished it off, I then ordered a waffle which came with a side of syrup, blueberry compote and whipped cream. I proceeded to devour this too. I think the waiter was shocked that I could eat this much. Actually I could have eaten a bowl of the granola but I could see they were closing down for the morning. I thought it was enough. The room is so beautiful too. The big bay windows overlook the lake and the lawn and the foliage was just amazing. The fireplaces were going so it was a nice touch on a cool Fall morning. The whole experience was just wonderful with excellent food and wonderful service.
It's closed
Not many electrical outlets around (like when i need it for my computer or phone) but good place to hang out.
Good place to get Starbucks coffee, baked goods, and other items.
Very nice hotel with multiple restaurants. The Glimmerglass is their breakfast restaurant with an amazing Sunday Brunch Buffet. It had everything from salmon, shrimps, oysters, crabs, egg station with a cook, meat sations with cooks, fruits, big cheese selection and a big dessert selections. Very good price that included your beverages. Excellent, fast and friendly service. Definately a must if you are in Cooperstown over a Sunday.
So it seems this restaurant is not listed as a separate venue as it is in the upstairs of the Otesaga Hotel. We chose to sit on the veranda, which gives you a great view of gorgeous Lake Otsego. My wife ordered the cauliflower as an appetizer, it was good. For our entrees she ordered the lentil vegetarian dish, I got the strip steak. My steak was ok, nothing great. Hers was so salty it was inedible. The manager informed the chef, who stated "the combination of spices gave the appearance of saltiness". Hmm, you must mean all the salt you added. They did offer us dessert for free to compensate. I got the key lime dessert, she got the custard. Both were good, not great. The service was slow. And, in spite of a dress code that stated no athletic apparel or sneakers, they did allow a group in who looked like they just came in from the HOF. So, I give it the poor rating I did because the only great thing about the place, other than the view, is the bill. I'm a local, and I won't be back. I'll stick to the Hawkeyes if I chose to dine at the Otesaga again.
Inside the Otesaga Hotel, you’ll find a huge breakfast and lunch buffet that is virtually unknown to the crowds trolling Main Street. You don’t need to be staying at the hotel to go to the restaurant. Sunday brunch requires a reservation but most other days, you can pretty much walk in. This is the type of throwback to 1950s country clubs—innumerable stations with enough choices to choke a horse. The food is substantial, good quality, if perhaps inspiring. The room is huge, so there’s rarely a problem getting seats but I’d suggest asking to sit on the terrace where you can get an unobstructed view of the lake. This is one of my favorites in Cooperstown.
if your in the area during the summer this is a great spot to visit. A lot to do with a beautiful lake to sit and relax by
i was staying at the otesaga hotel so i decided to eat dinner here and was not disappointed. debi was my server and really did an outstanding job. i had a very nice salad and the steak, which was prepared to a perfect medium rare. i noticed the other diners also seemed so satisfied and i did not hear any complaints. the atmosphere is very beautiful and i felt as if i were dining 100 years ago. the views of the lake are very nice and relaxing. cooperstown is so lucky to have a restaurant of this quality. i loved this restaurant and i will return.
You can easily imagine how this scape must have looked exactly the same hundreds of years ago. Very serene and peaceful. I honestly felt as if I could walk on the water,
