They need to wear gloves serving food without no gloves is no good and I am a regular Customer. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid.

Disgusting food, worse service. The two females staffing the front yesterday night, 10/8/25 were beyond rude. It's the end of the night, and the woman gives me 4 small pieces of the chicken curry, just so she can sell the last 10 pieces to a Guyanese person for another 15 dollars...Disgusting@!! And, we both got sick from the stale food.

If you’re craving authentic Guyanese food in Queens, Shanta’s is easily one of the best spots around. Every visit has been a flavorful journey, the food is always fresh, well-prepared, and hits all the right notes of comfort and nostalgia.
My go-to favorites?
The Saltfish, Potato & Bake, a classic done right every time
The Potato Ball - golden, crispy perfection with that familiar Guyanese touch
Unlike some places in NY that claim to serve authentic Guyanese cuisine, Shanta’s delivers the real deal. It truly brings a little piece of home right here to New York.
The staff has been easy to communicate with in my experience, and the vibes are generally pleasant. That said, customer service could use a bit of polish. One recommendation would be to implement a numbering system to manage the crowd, it does get packed (because the food’s that good), and a more organized system would go a long way.
Still, Shanta’s continues to earn its place as a neighborhood favorite. Highly recommend if you’re after legit Guyanese eats and a reminder of home.

Excellent quality of food and service! These ladies are amazing, they were able to squeeze in a last minute catering order for a large Chicken Chow Mein and Large BBQ chicken for my employees within 3 hours. They make AMAZING FOOD!

Customer service does not even deserve a star, the staff are very very rude which is bad for business. Especially the lady with the blonde hair, yelling with the workers in the back like they’re children. She should be fired or stay at home!!!
Servers are friendly, and I am obsessed with the bake and saltfish

I was in NY coming from a cruise and was looking for Guyanese good and stumbles upon this place.I was so excited to see Guyanese food so I got a few things for me and my kids. The food was busting, (delicious) man me and my kids was snacking our mouth in the car.
It was the Bigan choka for me.
Highly Recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Honestly, the only Guyanese roti shop around that comes the closest to home style Guyanese food.

Staff is rude, I called 6 times and the person that answered the phone literally was yelling at me, I have no control over her not hearing all I was trying to do is place an order for pick up. They lost a customer because of her attitude!!!! Very RUDE!!!
The lady’s here are so rude I can’t stand especially the owners and their kids
Horrible customer service. Because of your unfriendly staff, your business will only go downhill

Giving ONE star based solely on the price of the food vs. quantity. You’re paying so much already especially with a card and then u get a little serving of food. They would scoop food back out the container if it looks to much and if you ask for more they would not give u! This is ridiculous as all other West Indian bakeries and restaurants pack food in the containers. For the price you have to pay and the VERY LITTLE FOOD THEY GIVE YOU IS NOT WORTH IT!!!!
