My husband and I have been here a few times, and this restaurant consistently delivers good food, good drinks, and good ambiance. I definitely recommend if you are looking for a quality Mexican restaurant in the area.

Zapata in Palisades, NY has decent food at reasonable prices. I especially enjoy their lunch menu and the little free appetizer they serve everyone...it is a nice touch. The problem is that often, and it seems to happen about half the time, they get the orders wrong, to the point where it has to be sent back for correction. This is aggravating. I have an issue with sour cream so I tell they them when ordering (in both English and Spanish) 'no sour cream, please...very important'. And every other time, the plate come loaded with cream. So, it has to go back...and when it returns, the portions that they didn't replace are 'lukewarm'. It shouldn't happen. It is a product of carelessness and indifference. While Zapata is a decent place when they get it right, it is not worth the risk of aggravation and upsetting the flow of your visit.

We had dinner here for the first time and it was awesome. The service was great and the wait staff was incredibly attentive. The food was delicious and the beverages were great. I would highly recomment 100%

Whoever on here is giving this mediocre restaurant more than 1 star is absolutely lying and has never tasted authentic Mexican food, or good food, in their life. I am absolutely flabbergasted at the amount of great reviews this place has. I went here with my friends and ordered drinks and nachos. That alone was enough for my poor digestive system and wallet. Drinks were fine. Nachos were not even nachos; instead we were greeted with sad single store bought chips laid out on a plate with microwaved cheese on each one. Absolutely depressing and delusional to label them as nachos. This dish alone was about $12 and didn't even have 12 chips. If anyone tells you that this place is 5 stars, run away and get them help.

Dinner at Zapata’s is always a fantastic meal. When entering you’re always greeted by the owners who are so happy to see you and are very welcoming. Recently they’ve added weekly special entrees which are fantastic, not your basic taco, although they are delish too. My wife and I have eaten both in the dining room and at the bar, both are great but we always enjoy the experience with Christian, the head bartender. He is young and energetic and manages all the cocktails for the resturant and bar. His drinks are spot on and delicious. When eating in the dining room it won’t disappoint and if you happen to have Carlos as your waiter be sure to say Mr. Chris sent you.

Service was great, but the food left something to be desired. Avoid the Zapata Huaraches at all cost, it’s definitely not what it should be.

Stopped here on a Sat afternoon for lunch. There were 3 people in our party - one needed to use the bathroom extremely badly, as in emg situation. The other 2 of us waited in the car to give him a minute and he said he would let us know when he was ready to be seated. Five min later he came hurriedly walking out and he and the owner were yelling at each other. Apparently, the owner started aggressively banging on the door and pulling on the handle while he was in the bathroom. When he came out, the owner had locked the front door in order to confront him before he was able to leave the restaurant. The confrontation was the owner yelling at him that it's not a public restroom. While I completely understand restaurants do not want non-patrons using their facilities, this was not the way to go about it. Firstly, we would have been patrons if the owner had waited for us to come in, or simply would have let my friend explain that we were coming in to eat. Secondly, you cannot lock someone in your facility in order to aggressively confront them about something as silly as using your restroom. We sat in the parking lot contemplating if we should go back in and explain but ultimately decided that the owner's behavior was unacceptable, so we left and went to The Filling Station down the street (which was excellent, by the way). TLDR; I apologize that there was a misunderstanding over the restroom use, but it could have easily been cleared up with better behavior from the owner of the restaurant. We will not be returning.

Loved the authentic atmosphere I had beef burritos with refried beans and yellow rice. It was good. I thought it would be. With ground beef the shredded beef was a little tuff. We were with another couple so we had a good time. Food was nice and fresh, overall we all enjoyed our meal. Love the

This is a great local place for simple Mexican inspired food. Always predictable, prompt service, reasonable prices. Can be quite noisy when crowded with families. A neighborhood mainstay, great for frequent visits.
