Our food was not flavorful (bland) and it was COLD. We had salmon, prime rib, and t-bone. We also had mussels for appetizer & oysters. They were also just fair. The service was friendly but strange. Our waitress told us we better order quickly before a large party was seated...then later told us our dinner is delayed since she didn't get our order in before the large party. Beautiful location with view of the lake though.
One of the best meals we've had! We shared the grilled oysters with chimichurri, and they were delicious. I had the halibut and my husband had the black ink pasta with duck. Both were outstanding. Just sorry Main Deck is closed Monday and Tuesday! We probably would be back both nights!
The filet was amazing. Might be the best I have tasted! The salmon was unique and really tasty. Over quinoa and pureed beets. It had a crisp outer layer and was cooked to perfection!
Reserved table for 2 ,fri night for dinner. Ordered cherry and rosemary sauce duck appetizer, house salads, charred asparagus side and broiled haddock entries. The service food and atmosphere were outstanding. I would recommend this buisness for anyone who appreciates fine dinening
The chef is a master at flavors and presentation. Sourcing locally is a bonus. Thank you for a very special evening with Fox Run prize-winning wines and the information share by Scott Osborn and your chef. Pricing was fair, quantities ample.
We had a wonderful 5 course dinner with excellent wine pairings last night at Main Deck. The event was well worth the cost! The serving staff lead by Ace was attentive and professional as always! We are grateful to have this venue in our town!!
We enjoyed a special prix fixe dinner paired with Fox Run, a local FLX winery. All the courses were amazing, and the chef and winery owner explained each course and the wine. There was a bit of noise from the adjacent bar which was slightly distracting - voices and music. Also recently had lunch here and it was delicious- tacos and cocktails both excellent. Hope to dine here again very soon!
Beautiful setting on the shore of the lake in Penn Yan with what appears to be a broad and exciting menu and with a staff that tried its best. This restaurant fails however in its execution. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed and the back of the house failed at food preparation. Several of our dishes came out cold and had to be returned. Another tasted tainted also returned. Another contained pieces of bone in the pasta, which almost caused the guest to almost break a tooth. And one appetizer they also forgot to prepare. Our waitress tried her best and was apologetic but apologies do not substitute for proper food preparation.
Went to Main Deck for dinner last night for my Birthday and we had a perfect table outside on the deck. Weather was absolutely beautiful. Our waitress was great! Food was awesome as always. We have never had a bad meal. Always top notch! We tell all our friends.
Ordered the vegetarian meal. Carrot puree was stone cold. Red lentils stone cold. Cauliflower was warm. We ordered a side of carrots. Stone cold. Asked to have them warmed. White asparagus was terrible. My husband's chicken was good but way too much spicy.

Love the new fall menu. Vanessa made great recommendations for cocktails and specials to try. My husband got the Duck Wellington and it was wonderful, and that's based in the one bite for me he was willing to share! The weather is lovely for dining outside in Sepyember!
Our server was great. The only drawback was 3 out of 4 meals were overcooked. Not burnt but overcooked. We did not send them back as we did not have a lot of time. We will try your place again but will stay away from the Reuben and chicken sandwich.
Had the day's special Chicago Beef Sandwich which was outstanding. Deck seating is amazing but is always breezy and a bit cool this fall-like day. View is awesome right on the lake. Service is friendly and prompt.
Very mediocre experience. Food does not live up to the descriptions. Often unseasoned, bizarre combinations that didn't work, frozen fruit in cobbler which was undercooked - hard to believe that a simple fruit cobbler was messed up. Also, the music was awful. View is incredible. Decor was nice. Way overpriced.
Went for a celebratory dinner. 1. Tried to add 1 person to the reservation. Called the restaurant and left a message that was never returned. 2. Seating was fine and drinks and food orders were taken within a reasonable time. 3. Food took more than 30 minute after we placed the order. Restaurant did not seem to be overly crowded. 4. When food finally arrived, one entree was incorrect and the other three were luke warm. 5. We decided to continue to eat the three entrees but sent the incorrect one back. Then one of the three kept, the fish was undercooked. 6. Server was aware of all the issues but only kept offering to take orders for more drinks and never offered to send a manager to our table to help resolve the issues. 7. Then when the bill came, we had been charged for an extra entree. I would never recommend Main Deck. This restaurant does not provide the service nor the food quality that you would expect from an upscale restaurant.
