Hey folks please pay attention to the item prices and calculate your orders correctly prior to checking out, me and my husband have gone here a few times for breakfast before church and the total is beyond what the menu prices reflect. I ordered French toast scrambled eggs and small oj, my husband ordered 2 eggs hash home fries small oj when I added everything after seeing my bank statement the total comes up to $23.46 (menu prices are online) my bank statement shows they charged us $39.29.
Not the first time I’ve noticed this and I won’t be going there again; seems like they’re charging you more to eat there; or shady business happening. Thank God we have the funds however Right is right wrong is wrong . Overall we enjoyed our breakfast.

Omg so expensive for really bad food. Even basic food was bad. This could be a great spot. Need major food improvements and pricing.

## Review of Cup and Saucer Diner, NY

As a bus group organizer, I've brought groups to the Cup and Saucer Diner in New York many times over the years. Our prior experiences were consistently outstanding — excellent service, delicious food, and prices that made sense for groups.

### Recent Visit Under New Management: Disappointing Change

This year brought a starkly different experience. The diner, now under new management, imposed a fixed menu for groups, with meals priced at $19.99 each (including a soda with up to three refills), plus tax, a mandatory gratuity, and an additional $2.99 credit card processing fee. This fixed price was significantly above the standard menu pricing — for example, the Philly Panini with fries cost me $25 all-in, a dramatic increase from the regular $11.99 à la carte price.

#### Main Issues Encountered:

- **Rigid Pre-Ordering Process:**
The new management required that all group members preselect their meals and send in choices the day before. They also instructed us to place written meal tags at each table setting. I created clear, printed tags to keep things organized, but this process was unnecessarily time-consuming and poorly coordinated by the staff.

- **Poor Service Experience:**
Our waitress was argumentative, making a fuss over anyone whose tag was missing or had been altered by a guest who changed their mind. Many in our group were confused and uncomfortable with how the situation was handled — a stark contrast to the warm, efficient service we used to enjoy.

- **Quality of Food:**
The food ranged from mediocre to outright disappointing. My Philly Panini was so oily I couldn’t finish it, which echoed the sentiment of many in our group.

- **Feeling Overcharged:**
The requirement to order from a fixed, higher-priced menu (with hidden fees) led everyone to feel gouged, especially given the drop in food and service quality. This kind of pricing was never an issue in the past, when we could simply order from the standard menu.

### Final Thoughts

Sadly, this is not the Cup and Saucer Diner we fondly remembered. The experience left our entire group dissatisfied, and I will not bring future tours here. The management’s new policies and dismissive service were a big letdown in comparison to the consistently wonderful experience we have at The Putnam Diner every year.

**Bus groups, take note — This place is no longer group friendly. I recommend looking elsewhere for your group dining needs in NY.**

I really like this place because I can get what I feel like that day and enjoy it or eat & leave for other things I need to get done.

I had high hopes for this place. It looked like a vintage soda pop diner from the 50s. The outside was very appealing but then the food came and it went downhill from there. Several things were wrong about our order and when son ordered a salad but had blue cheese on it, which wasn't on the picture on the menu. He was told to just pick it off. Then came my dish the Tuna melt that looked like it came from the can with government cheese on it. I was not impressed. I still left a 20% tip because the waitress tried her best. But just had high hopes for this place and was let down.
