What a gem for Portchester! The wife and a had a few drinks as well as shared a bunch of items. Any place that has this selection of roasted veggies is a keeper. They tried to sell us on their steaks but we weren't in the mood. The Lamb Merguez was delicious as was the Harissa Beef.

Was our first time visiting 1881 for my wife’s bday, party of 11. Everything was amazing and Jen took exceptional care of our party. All of the food was top shelf but double special stars for the steaks — mind blowing. this was one of the absolute best dinners I’ve ever had in Westchester. So worth the trip over from Dobbs Ferry. Can’t wait to go back!!

Great service and wonderful food at many price levels
Loved the ambiance and personal attention from the staff . Most often, you can converse with the kind owners about the meal creations and history of the restaurant.

Dear Owner/Manager,
I am writing to share an experience from Friday evening that left me deeply disappointed, not only as a guest, but as a fellow business owner in the neighborhood.
After ordering drinks, appetizers and our meal. My guest and I had just been served our dessert and cappuccinos they had not yet been finished when a member of your staff approached our table and asked that we vacate it to accommodate other guests. We were still actively dining, enjoying our conversation, and very much in the midst of our experience. Being interrupted and asked to leave at that moment was both surprising and discourteous.
We were directed to the bar where seating was unavailable, leaving us to stand and wait without drinks.. No apology was offered, nor was there any gesture of hospitality to acknowledge the inconvenience or embarrassment caused. For an establishment that prides itself on service and atmosphere, this interaction felt abrupt, dismissive, and entirely inconsistent with those values.
I have supported your restaurant often personally and professionally and have brought clients and colleagues here because I believed in the quality of your service. That is why this experience was not only disappointing, but disheartening.
Hospitality is not simply about the food served, but about how guests are treated while they are under your care. To be asked to leave while still being served dessert reflects a disregard for that principle.
I hope you will take this matter seriously and address how situations like this are handled in the future. I would appreciate a response.
One of the best meals we've had in Westchester in a while. The restaurant was great, service was polished and friendly, and the vibe and decor are amazing. The owner even came up and chatted with us several times, asking for honest feedback, and sending us a dessert on the house. Highly recommend and will be back asap!

We had a wonderful dining experience at 1881. The food was excellent and the menu was perfect for sharing family style. The team coursed our meal beautifully, starting with the mezze platter and tuna crudo, then the pizza and salad, followed by two protein-forward entrées that were just right for our group of four. The wood-fired flavors and simple ingredients really stood out and added a special touch.
We sat upstairs in the mezzanine, adjacent to the wine room, which was comfortable and intimate with a phenomenal view of the dining room. It felt like a private dining experience without being removed from the energy of the restaurant which had great sounds from the music playlist, open kitchen, and patron’s conversations. The staff was attentive and checked on us regularly. Jennifer was so kind and accommodating throughout the evening, she made us feel welcome. Compliments to Chef Dave, whose cooking and thoughtful menu design made the meal great. And Pedro, our server, was knowledgeable and provided great service.
Overall, 1881 is a gem in Port Chester with excellent food, warm service, and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Food was delicious but slow to come out with the busyness of Sunday dinner, but we were happy to be at the bar. Beautiful restaurant.
