I dont know if its their signature sandwich but my folks have been taking me to The Wunderbar for breakfast sandwiches for years. I always get 2 eggs over medium with bacon and cheese. They are very consistent, always delicious and use about a pound of bacon per sandwich. I look forward to it every time I visit.

Other than the chicken noodle soup being way too salty for me personally, everything I get is always a hit!

ok, so the first time I went, I asked for an ovei-easy bacon egg sandwich... got a solid cooked through egg (hate dry overcooked egg sandwiches). I figured just an oversight so I went back a few months later for a liverwurst sandwich on a roll... very stingy on the meat, onion etc portions, esp for the price. Final straw was when I went back for a third time and got bad fish. I could smell it in the bag before I took it out.. opened the container and it smelled of ammonia. So there it is, & i'm done with this place. A shame, they seem to be nice people.

Aside from the obvious, FOOD, which, of course, you would like to be good, u want great and FRIENDLY service.
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I GOT HERE.
I forget his name, and I've only been here once, but the gentleman with the beard is awesome. So helpful and friendly!
Happens to be a dog- lover too!
So. If you need a quick bite and want to talk dog talk, this is the place!

What in gods name, just scraped the grill of whatever home fires were left? And then asking for over easy eggs and jalapeños and got exactly not that. Never again, just doesnt not look appetizing.

Everyone working at this deli seems to have a huge chip on their shoulder. Might have been a great place 40 years ago, I don't know. The food can be really good on the right day but it's not worth the price of admission. If the owner or anyone else you encounter is in a bad mood they'll deliberately screw with your order or just treat you like dirt here. If you complain they stare at you like you're an idiot. I don't know how many times I've gotten raw, runny eggs or some random abomination like mayo on my egg sandwich ordering food here simply because I didn't specify to not do that when whoever took my order was hungover and feeling grouchy that morning.
Last time I set foot in Wunderbar the guy behind the counter yelled at me because I asked if they were still serving lunch at 2:38 in the afternoon(their lunch special is supposed to end at 3:30 but everything was already being put away). I don't mean that he seemed annoyed. He actually started obnoxiously complaining while he waved his hands in the air and raised his voice at me because I was making him do his job. Like I was wasting his time by trying to give him money. I told him to forget it and walked out and the guy kept mouthing off at me while I was going out the door.
It seems to me that the owners stopped caring here years ago for whatever reason. Everything on the shelves is dusty and in many cases over its expiration date. The positive reviews here all seem to be from older people who have been going there since the 70's. Comments saying things like "long lines for crispy bacon worth the wait!" are false advertising. There hasn't been a long line at this place in probably 15 years. Maybe they treat their older customers better or maybe those people see getting treated with contempt by a guy behind a deli counter as "old school" and get some kind of kick out of it. All I know is that I'm never going back to this place and this is after defending them for years. I've had it.

Traveld all the way to Wunderbar Deli in Port Jefferson from Islandia area to have a Bacon, Egg and Cheese sandwich after seeing it posted all over the internet how good they are. We arrived at 11:40 this morning (Sunday) and was told that the grill closes at 11:30am. I explained all the way we traveled and why, and we were still told no way. I'll never go there again, don't care how good the sandwich is. The place looked dingy and grimy too; maybe a sign to have not eaten anything from there. Stood in the place for literally 2 minutes and left smelling like burnt bacon. 👎🏻👎🏻

Expired drinks in case, sandwich isn’t even editable, bacons so hard along with cold I think it was from two days ago and so much with no egg I had to throw it out. Other sandwich was put together so sloppy I didn’t even know what was on it. Person at counter spent the whole time talking to the cook about another employee instead of making something of quality. Personally there wasn’t a car in the parking loe I should have known.
