After reading many reviews for lunch places in Port Jervis, my husband and I thought JJ Delicatessen sounded best for a quick and casual lunch. What a great find! We enjoyed delicious and very fresh sandwiches (salami for him and liver wurst for me). Everyone was friendly and helpful. I only wish we lived closer.

As much as I hate to leave a bad review for a small business, it’s necessary. I’ve been a few times in the early morning (it was not busy) with family to order sandwiches and the owner has been rude each time. It was our first time there and he seemed to be annoyed that we didn’t immediately know what we wanted or what the options were. Sighing heavily and giving short responses. Gave it another shot thinking maybe he was having a bad day but he had the same impatient attitude.I think it goes without saying that you should be nice to your customers.

Food is always great, but it's a bit of a wait, even for a sandwich to go.
The food is great , BUT the owner is not !!!Very arrogant!!!Seems as if customers are disturbing him. ?Can't even ask him a question. He gets defensive .Very bad people skills and should stay out of the front and let the ladies do it.The ladies do a terrific job because I think they're scared of him!I asked him a question, and he replied very sarcastically, " I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING !!!"That's not how you should speak with your customers.Because of his terrible attitude, I will no longer patronize this
Great Italian combo hero. It's so stuffed that I could only eat half one day and had the other half the next. Nice people there and the store is well stocked and kept clean.

My husband and I went to JJ Deli to grab lunch on a Saturday. He got his favorite, the beef hot dog special with meat sauce. Actually, he got 2! I ordered a BLT on rye. It was so delicious, especially since it's made with their hunter bacon and fresh local tomatoes and lettuce. Everything I've ever gotten there has been wonderful, the salads, the babkas, the kielbasy - all sooo good. I would highly recommend this deli for lunch, for dinner, for parties, for BBQs, for anything. They have everything you would need. 5+ stars!
