My family’s favorite Japanese restaurant in Long Island! We’ve been coming here to dine over 15+ years. Authentic Japanese food and great quality sushi. They bring out edamame to start.Sushi A is my go-to dish and every time it’s consistently good. Our favorite is white fish teriyaki. Texture of fish and sauce is to die for. Tempura udon is just perfect from broth to udon to tempura.Fluke ponzu roll is so fresh. It comes with sauce on the side. Many sushi combo and entrees come with miso soup or salad and they are so delicious. We finish our meal with green tea ice cream. It’s perfect for weekday quick dinner or fun weekend dinner with friends and family.Highly recommend Yamagucci restaurant.

Beef Sakiyuki just a little salty but good with rice. Sushi was delicious. Make a reservation beforehand. It gets pretty busy.

Unpretentious savory delight. These words probably best describe and define a fine (and old) sushi restaurant in the heart of Port Washington area. This restaurant is located directly across from the LIRR station, so it makes sense for commuters to fall in love with this place. However, you will immediately find out that this place is enamored by locals and tourists alike. I never lived in Port Washington, but this is one of my favorite sushi restaurants. No other place simply can catch up with Yamaguchi in terms of culinary excellence and the value. They just raised the price is Sushi A set substantially to $27. But where in NY can you get 8 pcs of top-notched nigiri + tuna roll. And a bowl of miso soup? And complimentary edamame? Please enlighten me if you know who can outcompete.Seriously we need Yamaguchi in every town of America. It’s an understatement when I say I am getting sick of $150 omakase place taking over every major US cities. I don’t need golden spoon, I don’t need caviar on the torched salmon. I just need some good sushi meals under $30. Thank you Yamaguchi!

Love the traditional style, consistently fresh and delicious. Always packed except lunch if you're lucky.

I've been going to Yamaguchi for 25 years. But the past few visits have been frustrating due to very poor service, and tonight was the last time, I won't go back. To be seated and ignored when the restaurant was less than half full was unacceptable. Mr. Yamaguchi still serves an excellent omakase, but the rest of the staff just seem not to care any more. I walked out tonight, felt terrible after so many years but it's just not the same restaurant it used to be.

I can only say I wish I knew about this restaurant sooner. We continue to patronize and recommend it. Sushi is great quality, reasonably priced, and a good portion. It's the real deal, not high class snobbery. Go for the food, there is no fancy decor. The family that owns it is lovely.

The sushi sashimi omakase was SO GOOD and I highly recommend the ebi botan in sushi and deep fried shrimp heads. LOVE it. The heads are fresh, rather large in size, taste like chips. Smells good. My little kid ate some of it like chips. The ebi sushi was very delicious. Kid, age 6, can eat. Sukiyaki, beef teriyaki and udon are tasty as well. Authentic Japanese foods. Service is excellent. The waitress gave useful recommendations and very friendly and helpful. Always replenish our hot water. The atmosphere was traditional Japanese style, which I thought was a compatible theme with their foods and cooking style. Will come back!

It is standard fre in terms of Japanese food. Nothing spectacular, but customers would find the portions are satisfactory. Not much else to recommend.

Fresh sushi all the time , delicious food and wonderful service. We usually order the Sushi A and B and the pricing is always reasonable. This place never disappoints !

Delicious dinner with the family! We also ordered Tonkatsu and a vegetable tempura. Everything was delicious. Was so happy about the restaurant's authenticity and simplicity.
