About a year ago I was practically living in Poughkeepsie. I am talking 24/7 for several weeks. I ate breakfasts, lunches and dinners at Akbar’s almost daily. Everything I ordered was always delicious and prepared by some of the friendliest and most genuine people you will ever have the pleasure to meet. If you are in the area you must give them a chance and if you are not in the area, find a reason to be there. You won’t regret it!!

It was such a pleasant atmosphere. Very kind people. Food was on point and the portions were really big. I normally don't like fried chicken the second day but, it was still good the next day. Highly recommend.

I had to try this place due to all the great things I heard about the food. And I tell you it did not disappoint. The service was good. The staff was very kind. The food was on point. I will be visiting again. The menu is a lot bigger than it shows here. I let them know that they have to update their menu. So go check them out.

Great conversation while I waited, awesome food with great portions. Fried fish the way I asked extra crispy. Green beans and macaroni and cheese. You can clearly see the love that is put into the food to make others happy and full.

Love it, my sister came for lunch 2 days ago and said I had to come to try the food because it was amazing and she was right. One of the amazing queens cooking let me sample the sweet potato jack empanada and it was so good.

Kid-friendliness: My kids love their food breakfast menu or lunch/dinner. And that says a lot because kids in general are picky. My daughter 6 yr old fav is the shrimp and grits. They cook with love there you can tell.
