I haven’t been here in about 3 years I didn’t realize John the owner retired . I honestly wasn’t impressed with the quality of the food I got. I ordered a BEC on a bagel and hash browns. I ended up getting a Super stale bagel. In addition to that I thought I was getting John’s Shredded hash browns and ended up with diced potatoes that weren’t crispy! So said John retired! It looks nicer in there now but honestly I wasn’t in there for the atmosphere I was in there for the good quality food. Prices went up slightly but that was right on par for today’s world. Anyways gonna have to find another old school spot that has good quality food. Service was great though I will give them that.

Service is terrible, food takes forever to be ready even when I ordered (an hour) ahead, and they hung up when I complained that my order was wrong over the phone! Save your money and your time!

Used to come into The Big Tomato with my grandfather before he passed away. They are now under new ownership but the atmosphere is still the same as always. We were greeted by Melony who was very kind and polite. The food was absolutely delicious and filling. I love this place and I will always suggest The Big Tomato to anyone looking for a great meal.

A great place for breakfast!

The breakfast burrito with chorizo was excellent. Each bite was flavorful and the melted cheese added a great texture and more flavor. The salsa was great and added some freshness.

The pancake had a great consistency and was tasty.

The service was great!

I order from here faith fully and got my coworkers to order with me. I called twice to asked just to toast & grill roll. My order was cancelled today. I called to find out why. The lady with a very thick Spanish accent said I complain too much and I can order elsewhere then hung up on me. I called back because I have never been rude and ordered a lot. Never asked for a refund. I called back & now I am blocked on the call list.

If you are looking for the quintessential, hole in the wall tiny diner that's big on friendly vibes, the Big Tomato is the place. Not upscale and shiney by any
stretch of the imagination but I love getting breakfast or lunch here. I feel like I'm stepping back in time to a 1970s film set and Popeye Doyle is about to come in for a coffee any minute.

This was such a cute neighbourhood restaurant. Stopped in for breakfast with my mom and Aunts. The food was great, the coffee was great and the service was excellent!

This place fell off. It's very disappointing. And please don't order DoorDash - they won't even fulfill the order, and you may stand around for an hour.
It's so sad to see a Poughkeepsie staple has lost its shine. You need to hire more people who know how to run a diner/ luncheonette. I won't be back.

Anne Hathaway did not spit in my food.

Wasn't sure if shrimp tacos were the right decision, but they turned out to be! Very fresh w/ savory seasoning. Comes w/ a soda! I got there for their afternoon service of mainly Mexican street fare; arrive earlier for breakfast.

Off the wall, old school diner vibes with the taste of a home cooked meal for breakfast. I got a breakfast burrito with home fries and an iced coffee. It’s just what this college student needed being away from home.

Wonderful little diner in Poughkeepsie. The food was cooked perfectly, and it felt like a true diner experience. Great pancakes, great eggs, great sauces. The price was also exceptionally reasonable. The only thing I wish they had was real maple syrup, instead of pancake syrup. I'd absolutely recommend!

I bought a plain bagel with eggs and bacon. It was very expensive for such a simple sandwich that ended up with only 1 egg. I believe I paid $8.68. But they were very nice people, so I won't say anything bad.

My comfortable cold home fry was not made at the moment and some people with the speaker playing Mexican music with loud volume that was annoying, talking about not even doing it, they left it, check your video from 2 15pm, it arrived
