While ordering a cake I over heard one of the mangers screaming while scolding one of the employees. Over hearing the conversation he was more or less attacking her borderline harassing this poor girl instead of actually constructive criticism. No wonder why all of the servers are miserable whenever ever I walk in. Terrible management
As a business owner myself, I understand how important proper leadership, employee support, and store presentation are. After visiting this Carvel location, I feel compelled to express some serious concerns from a professional standpoint.
The employee working that evening was doing an excellent job, staying polite and respectful to every customer. However, the way she was being addressed by management was unacceptable by any business standard. The tone being used toward her was unprofessional, discouraging, and completely inappropriate in front of customers. Strong leadership is supposed to elevate employees — not tear them down.
What concerned me even more was that she appeared to be working entirely alone at night. In any business, especially one serving the public, having a single employee running the store after dark is unsafe and inefficient. No responsible manager or owner should allow that situation to happen.
It is also troubling to hear about multiple employees quitting recently, with another one now preparing to leave as well. High turnover is a clear sign of deeper management problems, and based on what I observed, it’s not difficult to understand why. If leadership is not supportive, respectful, or attentive to staff concerns, the environment will continue to deteriorate.
From an operational perspective, the store cleanliness was below standard. The counters, floors, and general setup looked poorly maintained, which reflects negatively on both management and ownership. A clean, well-organized environment isn’t optional — it’s the foundation of any customer-facing business.
Additionally, the ice cream did not taste fresh, almost as if it had been stored improperly or kept past its ideal quality window. As a business owner, I take product quality very seriously, and this did not meet the expectations associated with the Carvel brand.
Overall, this location is struggling in key areas: employee treatment, staffing decisions, cleanliness, and product quality. The employee working that night showed professionalism and patience despite the circumstances, but she — and any other staff members — deserve far better conditions.
I strongly recommend that Carvel corporate take a closer look at this store’s management practices. A business succeeds when leadership supports its team, maintains proper standards, and ensures a safe, positive work environment. Unfortunately, that is not what I witnessed here.
I’m really disappointed with the condition of this Carvel and even more concerned about the way the employees are being treated here. What I saw during my visit did not feel right at all.
The young woman working the counter was doing everything she could to help customers, and she was incredibly polite and patient. But the atmosphere around her was terrible. The manager talked to her in a way that was rude, unnecessary, and honestly pretty embarrassing to witness. You could see the stress on her face, and no employee should have to work under that kind of pressure.
What really bothered me is that she appeared to be the only one working, and it was late in the evening. That is absolutely not safe. Any business should have at least two people on shift at night, especially when the management isn’t providing any real support. Seeing her left alone like that made me uncomfortable as both a customer and a human being.
This isn’t a one-time thing either. I’ve heard that several employees have quit recently, and now someone else is leaving because of how things are run. High turnover like that usually points to one problem: bad leadership. And from what I witnessed, that seems to be the case here. It also feels like the owner is more focused on his own problems than the well-being of the people who actually keep the store running.
Besides the treatment of employees, the cleanliness of the store was really lacking. The floors and counters didn’t look well-maintained, and the whole place felt neglected compared to other Carvel locations. To top it off, the ice cream didn’t taste fresh at all — the flavor and texture were off, almost like it was old or improperly stored.
Between the poor management, unsafe staffing situation, lack of cleanliness, and questionable product quality, this store desperately needs oversight. The employee working that night did a great job despite everything, but she and any other workers here deserve much better conditions.
Corporate seriously needs to step in.
I don’t normally leave reviews, but what I witnessed at this Carvel location genuinely concerned me — not just as a customer, but for the physical and emotional safety of the employees working here.
The most alarming issue is the way management speaks to and treats the staff. The manager was openly harsh, dismissive, and unprofessional toward the young employee working that night. Instead of offering guidance or support, the manager chose to criticize her in front of customers, creating an uncomfortable and negative atmosphere. It was clear the employee was trying her absolute best, yet receiving no respect or encouragement in return.
What’s even more troubling is hearing that multiple employees have already quit because of this environment, and now another worker is leaving too. When good staff keep walking out, that usually means the leadership is the real problem — not the employees.
It also seems like the owner is more focused on his own bills and personal priorities than the well-being of the staff or the quality of the store. There is zero sense that employee safety, morale, or training is valued here. It genuinely feels like the workers’ feelings and concerns are ignored entirely.
The young woman working that night was incredibly kind, patient, and professional despite everything happening around her. It was honestly painful to see her trying to stay polite while being treated so poorly. No employee should look stressed or uncomfortable in front of customers — especially when they’re doing everything right.
Another major concern was that she was working completely alone at night, which is unsafe and inappropriate for any business. There should always be at least two staff members scheduled, especially after dark. Leaving one young employee alone with no support or protection is irresponsible and dangerous.
On top of the management issues, the store did not look clean or well-maintained. The counters and visible areas looked messy, the environment felt neglected, and it did not resemble the quality or appearance of other Carvel locations. When the visible areas are this poorly kept, it makes you wonder what the back areas and storage look like.
To make matters worse, the ice cream tasted off — almost expired. The flavor and texture were nowhere near what Carvel is known for. Combined with the lack of cleanliness, it raises serious questions about how products are being stored and handled.
Overall, I am deeply concerned for the staff who have to work under these conditions.
Good employees are being pushed away, safety is being ignored, the store is not being maintained, and the management approach is damaging both morale and customer experience.
I truly hope Carvel corporate investigates this location, because the way things are being run right now is unacceptable and unfair to both the workers and the customers.
crazy town over here..
One of best ice cream around. Love the soft serve
My favorite ice cream! I get it in NY when I visit upstate. Very disappointed they pulled out of Fort Worth, Texas years ago.
This place is very clean and pleasant
We spent $35 for my daughter's ice cream cake. There were barley any crunchies in the cake. What a disappointment.
It’s been a long time since I had Carvel ice cream from one of their stores. I was transported back to my childhood. Staff was nice and helpful.

Yummy!!
Love Carvel and the young lady who served me was patient as I awaited a response from my wife as to what she wanted. You can't beat the vanilla soft serve with chocolate crunchies!

Went in to the shop to buy a premade cake, young man at the counter offered to write on it. I asked for happy birthday. Didn't think to check before I left. This is what I got. Would have been better off with no writing.

Ice cream mid
Super Rude employee on Saturday evening. We were the only ones there and it took her a good 5–10min for her to even acknowledge us. Prices are ridiculous and the place is dirty. The chairs and tables inside look like they been wiped down with a dirty wash cloth. The owners should be embarrassed.
