I love Mexican food, whether it’s authentic or Americanized. But this place would get a zero if it were an option. Why? Because any self-respecting Latino will tell you that black bean soup DOES NOT look like whole black beans floating around in hot water. I didn’t bother tasting it, paid for the other tasteless plates I had ordered, and got the f outta there, continuing my fruitless search for tasty well-made Mexican food up here in the northeast.

I freaking love this place! It's really good food that's not too pretentious like other places on main. There's a lot of good food in Poughkeepsie and el Azteca is among the best ones.They have a daily special that can really save you some money too. It's a shame they don't sell beer otherwise I would eat here ALL THE TIME!I had the flan!

Came here with my mother for a quick lunch. We both got chicken tacos (Texas style & Mexican style) with rice and beans. Both delicious. To drink, we each got a homemade agua fresca. One Pineapple & other Mango. Also both delicious. We ordered some empanadas to go, and I'm sure those will be amazing as well. We'll definitely be back. The service was A+. Thank you!

The restaurant is always very clean. I usually come and pick up my food today I decided to stay. Usually you have somewhat of a crowd but nothing crazy. Today I was all alone. The lady that is usually here is always so nice! The birria tacos are amazing!!! The rice and beans delicious definitely a hidden gem

We went with my family for dinner since it was in our way, but none of us liked the food. They give you the drink in a plastic bag instead of a glass with ice; That gives a bad look to the place and the food tastes bland and flavorless, it is clear that they do not use fresh products. It's a shame because the place is large enough to take advantage of.
Delicious carne asada tacos and shrimp tostadas! Our meals were out within 5 minutes of ordering which was awesome.

It is often hard to find Birria tacos in Poughkeepsie. My boyfriend loved them from here! Very friendly atmosphere! I love it here. The food was great. Amazing customer service. Would definitely recommend to anyone who truly loves authentic mexican cuisine.
I ordered a chicken taco and a shrimp taco.They read me back my order and still gave me wrong order.I paid 40 for my food when I got home and looked at my food after walking there. It was not what I ordered when I went back to get right order the lady laughed in my face and refused to remake or give me my money back. Other employees where sitting on tables where we eat and laughing about it as well. I than went to the taco place right next to the Redbox and got same order for cheaper and it was way better. Taco gol IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 553 MAIN ST

The service was excellent.The food was exactly what I was looking for,taste like made at home,fresh,hot,great flavors and excellent prices.It's hard to find a Mexican restaurant with the fresh food ,they serve your food hot and smells like it was just coming from the stove,made with love and dedication.I'll keep going there ,especially because they are really good on service,attention ,freshness ,flavors,..Too many good reasons to be satisfy with this place
