Schatzi's Pub and Bier Garden

We came in around 5pm on a weekday and sat outside. For only a handful of tables, the service was a little slow, the waiter took our appetizer order and walked away, then felt like he was trying not to make eye contact so I had to loudly call him over to order the rest of our food.

For appetizers, we got the cheese pierogies and the frickles. The pierogies were tasty but had a lot of oil on them and the frickles had a thick batter that I wasn't expecting and didn't like. We didn't finish them. I would try a different appetizer next time instead of either of these.

I like reuben sandwiches and LOVED this twist of the meat being cubed, not sliced. It made it much more tender. I would come back just for this sandwich. The cheddar bratwurst was also good, and we liked the parm fries better than the regular, though both were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Food is expensive and comes out cold. Service was also not great at all. Would not recommend compared to the alternatives near the train station.

This place doesnt look like much from the outside, but good lord is it good. Get the schnitzel, with the schatzi's sauce.

We got takeout after seeing a show down the road, and it’s one of the few places open after 11pm. The “Other Guy” burger was quite big but the warm potato salad was thrown in with the burger in the same container so part of the bun got soggy. I wish the potatoes were placed in a separate container. The fish tacos my partner had was good although the corn tortilla also got a little soggy and fell apart. Next time we’ll just eat there.

Sat outside in August on the patio, ordered the Hudson Valley salad — rating it the best salad I’ve ever had — however I am from Florida and not exposed to a mix of tastes like this. Really great service from Lindsey. Husband got the schnitzel and he said it as delicious.
BTW this place looks like a bar from the street but there are tables and chairs. We are the oldest people here but we are coming back again.
