I was starving and wanted some food. It is July 4th, so I was hoping something was open. Decided to try this spot… and OMG. The first bite was so delicious that I totally forgot to snap a picture. I got rice and peas, pasta salad and oxtail. I can’t believe I ate my entire order. The place was super clean and quiet, due to the holiday… Will definitely come back and try the stew chicken!
This is my new Jamaican food spot!!!!

Food is great but they have poor customer service
The owner Shenel is exceptionally sweet and had such a welcoming spirit. Unfortunately the food was a 2 star. The stew chicken was so bland and there was barely any meat on the chicken. The cabbage was way under cooked and the mac n cheese was like Kraft. The chicken roti wrap had bones in it and was dripping with sauce. There was no soap in the bathroom and my daughter fell bc there was so much water all over the floor. I wouldn't return here even though the owner was a sweetheart, sorry.

being from the Bronx, I was originally intimidated walking in, hoping not to see mean employees with attitude lol This is literally the first Jamaican restaurant I’ve ever been to that has really kind employees, amazing atmosphere and food. I believe it was the owner that immediately greeted me as I walked in, and she was extremely sweet, even smiled at me. Let me try some other side of dishes and then help put together a great plate for me 10 out of 10 love this place and will definitely be back!!

I asked for jerk chicken and 2 festival and they acted like it was the hardest meal to make . Took them 35 - 40 mins to get my food & they kept asking if I just wanted 2 . I said yes. After all was done they said my food is ready and when I heard the price I was stunned @$17.00 for jerk chicken and 2 festival. But I was already there for long so I just paid and said I’ll never come back here . TERRIBLE SERVICE . They gave me something I did not ask for & jerk chicken was not authentic at all. Fireside is the best Jamaican spot out here for sure, ps yall festivals our nasty I was very disappointed.

I'm a Jamaican woman whose grandmother & all the women in my family can cook on wood fire. If you know then you know. With that been said i had lunch at Shenel's Kitchen rice and peas jerk barbeque chicken ( was done on a jerk pan outside the store) steam vegetable and fried plantain. the rice was shelly, the chicken was seasoned to the bone ( which i chaw up) the steam was very crunchy and flavorful, the plantain wasn't cut too thick ( which most so called American Jamaican restaurant does) they even gave me fried boiled dumpling which they had just done. they food sell off slap whey it taste good bad.

This has to be the best Jamaican food in this town. I had the curry chicken with plantains and rice and peas and pasta and the food reminded me of home.

My experience at Shanel's Kitchen was amazing! The customer service was super quick, and I got my food fresh. When I say the food was incredible, I mean it—it’s like getting two meals in one! They really cater to your tastes, making sure you get exactly what you like. Overall, the food is a solid 10/10. I’d definitely go back!
