The BEST !!! Food ever just like mom
We ordered trays of food for our 4th of July party and everything was amazing! The fried chicken was perfectly crispy, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious, and the mac and cheese was a crowd favorite. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the food. Highly recommend for any gathering or event!

This was my second time ordering from here. I wanted it to be good so badly. I’m-sad to say the first time, the fried chicken was dry, the Mac and cheese bland, and the collard greens tasted like they put sugar in them, which caught me off guard. That was a few weeks after the grand opening (a year or two ago?). Just went back the other day thinking maybe they changed things up a bit. I ordered the same thing. However, at the last minute, I saw smothered chicken, which I ordered thinking it would be moist and flavorful, since it’s cooked in gravy. Nope.
The Mac n cheese was crumbly where you had to scoop it. Couldn’t stab it. Didn’t hit. The chicken … I kid you not, I think they took the fried chicken, poured gravy over it, and threw it in the microwave. I had to tug at it to make it break apart because apparently my teeth aren’t sharp enough. Tasted like when I microwave leftover chicken. I didn’t even try to eat the dry drum sticks. I didn’t have any fight left in me to chew any more so I gave up. The chicken beat me. The collard greens … to be honest … grew on me. A spoon full with each bite made the chicken and Mac n cheese go down. Spent $22 plus $2 tip (for ringing me up … which took awhile because he had to go in back and “make” the smothered chicken, I’m guessing. I left and came back to pick it up) so after spending $24, I wasn’t going to let it go to waste. Had to eat it but it didn’t bring that soul food joy that makes you feel like you were invited to the cookout. We need a good soul food spot so badly. I wanted this to be it. Maybe it’s just my taste buds. I wish them well. Beautiful art inside. Maybe the other dishes taste better? I’m only posting in case they want to use reviews to improve. I want them to succeed and make great soul food. I'm rooting for them! Peace and blessings …

Shirley's soul food was very delicious, almost as good as Mama's food. I will always come back to this wonderful place because it reminds me of home.

Recommended dishes: Mac and Cheese Collard Greens Fried Chicken Wings with Fries with Cheeseburger, Fries
Empanadas were a little pricey for what they were but flavor was good. Fried chicken had a surprisingly juicy breast but lacking in seasoning. Mashed potatoes were really good. Mac and cheese was average.

Food is bang. Yams BANGG. Fried fish is seasoned well.
This place is all about the taste of the food. The food tastes fantastic, the staff were all friendly, I dont usually write a review after a single visit, unless it's exceptionally awful or something special.
This place is special.
Big portions, fair for the price, filling and warming and everything that it should be.

My first time eating here. I typically go to Sylvia’s in Harlem for soul food because there hasn’t been anywhere up here close. I just had one of the best meals I have had in a long time! The po boy is REALLY good. It came with fries and the fries were delicious. I also picked up the 3 piece chicken meal and the chicken was great, the greens were delicious and the Mac and cheese was amazing. I wish I ordered more but I will be back for sure. Great food and the girl that took my order was very nice.
