This little gem is located at 513 Main Street. It's very plain, no fancy furniture or wall hanging, but the food makes up for it. If you want authentic Mexican food, you must try them, the prices are well below average and the food is well above average I had the Enchiladas Suiza; Four enchiladas filled with string cheese, covered in green sauce, topped with onions, your choice of meat, yellow rice and beans, absolutely delicious, huge portion. My husband had the Special ; chicken with Mole, the best Mole ever, served also with rice and beans. We have never been disappointed, their food is always good. I gave four stars because of the non existent ambience. Our waitress Veronica spoke some English and was very attentive. They have a big menu, no liquor license. The prices are crazy increíble. Go try them.

Some of the best mexican in Poughkeepsie. This spot is priced right and has great food. Usually around Poughkeepsie you don't get authentic Mexican like you used to so I was happy to come across this little mom and pop shop. The tacos were on point and so was the soup. Will definitely be back.

Stop and eat at Cocina Oaxaquena for some delicious tampiquena, fajita, carne asada, and much more. We eat here a few times a month and they never disappoint. Quick and friendly service make it a pleasure to dine in, or get takeout. In the winter months I enjoy a bowl of pork pozole to warm me up. They do catering as well, to support your next family event.

The food was delicious! The restaurant is clean. You get extremely large portions for the price. If you want authentic Mexican food, I HIGHLY recommend it!

Real Deal Mexican Food!!! All prepared fresh to order, nice staff, super clean place. I had the enchiladas Rojas and a side of guacamole- honestly some of the best I've eaten anywhere, including Mexico. Try the le Mexican Hot Chocolate too- nicely spiced and not too sweet, great way to finish the meal off. Would definitely come back.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Huge, delicious portions of enchiladas. They made mine vegetarian (upon request) which was really nice. Ask about the aguas frescas. Tamarind was excellent.

Cocina Oaxaquena has tremendous authentic Mexican flavors but is doomed by its own success. The restaurant was extremely busy when we need I visited for dinner, the one server being totally overwhelmed by take out and diners. It took almost an hour for the food to arrive after ordering. That having been said though, I ordered the Carne Asada with mole and was blown away by the deep dark flavors of the wonderful sauce, but underwhelmed when the meat was very overcooked. The array of chips and salsas that came with the meal were outstanding again, highlighting that this is a place for sauce!

I was coming back from a trip to NYC and I wanted some good mexican food. I love food from Oaxaca so I figured I would try this place. Ordered the super tacos which come with a side of rice amd guac. The tacos were tasty but the surprise was how flavorful their rice was. I was like wow, now that is good rice. I also liked their Horchata.

Best Mexican food in the region. Veggie burrito and side of their phenomenal guacamole is my jam. Owner and daughter are super nice. Restaurant seating area is bright and cheery and impeccably clean.

I have eaten there a few times, and waitress always seems fine, but when you order to go or deliver sometimes there's a lady that you just feel like smacking in the head so she can pay attention to you and take your order. Passing the rudeness the food is good. Portions are reasonable and price is fair. What i like is that in no other Mexican restaurant would they give you fries with your torta that would usually be separate, thats one of my favorite and the other which is why i always order from there besides the rudeness is the empanadas my favorite is the one with pumpkin flower and it comes with a side of chicken soup and is the most delicious combo i have tried from them. And then they have their typical foods like tacos huaraches, rice and beans, desserts like tres leches cake, jello parfait and more. In conclusion food is awesome service may vary.
