I had a very uncomfortable experience here and will not be returning. A waitress told me she put a roofie in my drink. Hearing that immediately made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable. Because of that, I asked my male friend to accompany me to the restroom.
Before using the restroom, I covered the seat with napkins, used it, and flushed. When I came out, the female owner started walking around the bar telling people that my male friend had been in the restroom with me. She kept pointing at me, rolling her eyes, and looking over at me repeatedly, which felt humiliating and disrespectful.
Then a man approached our group of four women and told us to “never come back,” without asking what happened or listening to our side. One person in our group was already upset and uncomfortable, and instead of trying to calm the situation, he escalated it. I tried to stay calm and explain that he was telling us to leave and that we were already uncomfortable, but he didn’t care.
This is not how you treat customers. The behavior from staff and management was unprofessional, disrespectful, and made us feel completely unwelcome

Delicious food. Great atmosphere. Good drinks. A small place you could easily drive by but if you know, you know and you won't regret dropping by for some good eats and adult beverages. They also do a fun trivia night. Bartenders personalities also add to the vibe which is usually upbeat and fun.

Atmosphere and service was flawless. Boom boom tots were yummy but small portion, the toughest corned beef ever had, and $1.50 per pierogi was not worth it tho.

Best Bartenders ever. Friendly and fast. The Reuben was delicious. Tater Tots were super hot and super perfect. Local patrons were also kind and social. One of the best neighborhood hole in the wall bar ever!!!! I can't wait to visit again.

Really nice staff and great food. 50 cent wings on Thursday. Wednesday is a flip coin to win your meal for free . I order the prime rib which was really good. This was my first time here and I would definitely come back

My first time. While the decor was standard Irish pub bar-sign-style, the food was elevated. I had a delicious, healthy, seared tuna Cobb Salad and a great cocktail. The staffers never left us wanting and were attentive and personable. Can't wait to go back!

Great place. The food is very good and the waitress's are very friendly.
First, I am writing this from the perspective of a 70-year-old woman. My days of hanging out in a loud, crowded bar are long over. That is essentially what Tavern 23 is. We went for $.50 wing night, and so did everyone else in Poughkeepsie. We ended up sharing a communal table with a group of very nice guys, but it was still loud and there were chicken bones and empty beer bottles spread all over the table. Which brings me to my second point, the server should find another job because she is not good at her chosen profession. She never came by once to clear away the used dishes from our buddies. Not once. After she ignored us for 20 or so minutes, our table mates flagged her down so we could place our order. She brought our beer pretty promptly, but we waited an extraordinarily long time for our order. I am not exaggerating when I say we were there for over an hour waiting for our wings and fries. A couple of guys came in 30-45 minutes after us, sat at our table, were served and were almost done with their food and we still had not received our order (for some reason, they had a different server). We asked one employee dashing by to check on our order. She informed us she wasn’t a waitress (her word, not mine), but no matter because we never saw her again either. The owner stopped by our table to chat with our new bar friends, and my husband explained our situation. He immediately looked into why the heck our order was taking so long. Someone dropped off our food within five minutes. The owner comped our meal, which was very nice and appreciated. However, we never got napkins, utensils, wet wipes for our hands, water refills or an empty bowl for chicken wings. I can be pretty forgiving and if our server had displayed some regret for her bad service, I might have understood. Instead, as we were eating, she breezed by with a snarky comment saying we should “blame the kitchen, not her” and “we got our meal comped, so stop complaining.” Actually, we weren’t complaining because we became invisible again after our food came and we never saw nor spoke to her or any other employee (and, of course, no one ever came back to check on us). The chicken wings, btw, were very good, but the whole experience was very unpleasant and left a bad taste.
