Best Filipino Restaurant in NYC. This is what authentic Filipino food really is!

Very welcoming environment with warm staffs and it feels like home! Affordable newly batched cooked food served in huge portion! Thank you for accommodating and entertaining us in our 3 days of stays in town! We are definitely coming back!

So I've passed by this restaurant on my way to school for quite some time so I thought I'd try it out. As soon as I came in I was greeted by two friendly ladies, thet were so nice and welcoming. I ordered the Adobo chicken and rice. The chicken was fresh and you could tell it was cooked with a lot of love, not to mention the rice was just right and fluffly. I would definitely come here again and recommend it to a friend!

Number of visits: Once. My girlfriend was craving Filipino food. I wasn't really hungry because I had a heavy lunch so she ended up dragging me to this place. It was okay, though, because I was a bit excited to try it out since we had just moved into the neighborhood. Entering, I was a little concerned about the emptiness, despite it being a Monday evening. It was an open space; good-sized eating area when you enter, counter with grocery items in the back right, cooked food on display in the back left. Not their fault, but I wasn't impressed with the choices available. I ended up going with pork in this brown sauce (looked like adobo, but it wasn't) and lumpiang Shanghai, which is one of my favorites. My woman went with sinigang. The food: The pork in the brown sauce was dreadful. The sauce was gooey and mushy. It didn't seem fresh with the pork pieces being dry on the inside, and many little bits of shredded pork swimming around in the thick sauce. Not enough lean meat and loads of fat. I probably ate only 20% of the dish. And there was a bit of an aftertaste... like soap? The lumpiang Shanghai tasted rancid. Cooked well, but it honestly had a piercing rancid taste. Being my favorite dish, I don't think it should ever taste like that. The quality obviously wasn't there. The sinigang was the best item ordered, but it was missing that punch or zing I usually experience with other sinigangs. The cartilage of the pork was soft and easily cuttable which further told me that it was probably sitting around, cooking for the whole day. The place: Cozy, but outdated. Some religious relics around. A cabinet in front of the front door. There were no customers, but I had to push in chairs twice moving around. When it's busy, it'll be a nightmare. Dull green paint all around. Cleanliness was average. The employees: Friendly. No complaints. I almost felt bad for their lack of business. I asked to carry out the food because I really didn't want to affront them. All in all... two stars out of five. Obviously, I've had better. Will I return? I really don't think so, but I hope they do a makeover because I wouldn't mind a nice Filipino restaurant that is walking distance from my house.

Very nice people. Always ready to greet you with a smile. Food has good portions and taste much much better than average. All in all a nice experience. Will come back some day.
