We were stuck on the FDR heading back to NJ, staring at a 2.5-hour ETA, when my husband suddenly said, “Forget it — we’re going to Avellino’s!”

After a 30-year detour, we returned to the Italian restaurant we used to visit twice a week — and it was just as wonderful as ever. Angelo greeted us like family, and the food was outstanding.

The Seafood Combination Platter and Shrimp Marinara were superb — fresh, perfectly cooked, and covered in that rich, thick, homemade marinara sauce that defines true old-school Italian in Queens.

If you’re looking for a classic Italian restaurant near NYC with warm hospitality and authentic flavors that taste like home, Avellino’s is the one. Some places just never lose their magic ♥️🍝

The food was amazing and the service was excellent! (Thank you, Florencio!). The bread had a delicious garlic aroma, and both the coffee and pasta sauce were my favorites. Definitely coming back again!

We have been coming here for years, the food is excellent!! Prices are reasonable, and the staff is really nice!! Love the lobster ravioli, and Chicken piccata!! Always enjoy everything i order!! Will always be coming back!!
