This place needs some competition. It needs to know what it is and what it isn't. It's not bad but it's not good either. Definitely overpriced - especially the frozen drinks, beware. They don't list the prices, so only when you get the bill do you find out that the henny colada from a slurpee machine into a plastic cup is $20. Yes, 20 US dollars. You are a sports bar in Rego Park, not SoHo. Get over yourself. And why do the wings only come in 9, 30, or 45 pieces? And why do 30 wings cost $50? Also, I've had a side of fries 4 times, and 3 times they were soggy and pale. Today I had the chicken quesadilla, which was fine, but they give you a tiny blob of salsa and charge you $1.25 for the extra that you will inevitably need, and they give you just as tiny a portion. I'm sure they pour it out of a plastic jug. It's clear that they know they're the only sports bar in the neighborhood. If you have the time, go to literally any place on Austin Street in Forest Hills, you will get better food and pay less for it. 3 stars is honestly generous, it would be 2 if the staff wasn't as nice. I suspect the problem is the owner.

Edit: I guess the owner missed the part where I said it's the only sports bar in the neighborhood. We don't go there because we want to. We go when there's a game we want to watch in a bar but it already started and we'd miss too much by walking to Forest Hills. Any time we decide to go to Tropix, we do it begrudgingly. Also note that I gave 3 stars, that's not terrible. Your problems are fixable. Put prices on your drink menu. Stop charging $1.25 for a tablespoon of salsa. Cook your fries longer. Lower the prices of your frozen food by 8%. And most importantly, don't throw a hissy fit when your customers criticize you.

This is simply a rare diamond in an area that actually neededs it. Besides they have a great happy hour time the Food was delicious, very good drinks, good service and great atmosphere that definitely leaves you with the desire of going back.

Vegetarian options: No vegetarian options

Parking: Being right on Queens boulevard and on the middle of the block parking is not an easy task.

Wheelchair accessibility: Accesible entrance to the business but no accessibility to the restrooms for wheelchair at all.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I’m also convinced all of these 5 star reviews are fake. I don’t even know where to start, I went here with a friend to catch up, and immediately upon walking in we’re greeted with extremely loud music. We felt like we were having a shouting match. At times it became so frustrating that we just sat in silence. It was also so hard to get any of the workers attention, but when we finally did, we put in our order for shrimps and wings and it came out about 40 mins later. The black hair bartender/the girl that brings the checks, was rude. I asked her a question about turning down the music and changing our table and each time she gave me a dirty look. When the check came out, I realized then why the service sucked so much, they automatically tip themselves 18%. Just beyond ridiculous. Definitely would not be a place I will be returning to.

A great bar with a DJ and some solid mixed drinks. The tamarindo wings and chicken quesadilla are really good starters and you’ll definitely need something in your stomach before starting on the frozen drinks. There’s so many options for happy hour and any time I’ve been here the DJ plays multiple genres.

It would be nice if when the kitchen is closing they move some of the tables and chairs that are empty to make more room for people - especially since people like to dance. The space between the bar and the tables is narrow so moving some things around would give people more room to move freely.

Someone stole my Australian bank card details from Australia and racked up $970 here on Saturday night 24th Aug. Staff might be accepting dodgy cards unknowingly. Hopefully the restaurant can assist police.

Restaurant looks ? sorry for poor rating. All the best from Oz.
