The nerve to have a $5 credit card minimum at a TRAIN STATION where people are often in a rush. That’s really greedy and not a nice business practice for a place that obviously has a lot of “traffic”. Didn’t think that was legal but indeed it is. Nice way to “Welcome Everyone to the State Capital!”, NOT. Bad for your brand. Really taking advantage of Travelers. GRADE: F 🥀

I was in line for only about 3 minutes and got a sausage, egg, and cheese on a muffin. The two people working were super nice and I was in and out in just about 7 minutes total.

$6+tax isn't bad for a breakfast muffin!

I ordered a hamburger. It was supposed to be angus beef. It was not. They put half a head of lettuce, old melted cheese, and the roll was dry and stale. I order an almond milk latte. It had no flavor. It was absolutely tasteless. I know you’re in a pinch for good when you go there, but if you can, avoid the prepared food.

They have some poor old woman at the sandwich station who cannot keep up with the rapid nature of their business. Bunch of young people around telling her what to do instead of helping her. Couldn’t even get my food or a refund or I would’ve missed my train either way. Gave them $13 for nothing lmfao hilarious

We had a great experience here while waiting for the train. We had chai lattes, which were delicious, and we had breakfast sandwiches that were wonderful! Mine was so good I ordered a second sandwich for the trip. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this tucked away cafe, even if you're not taking a train.

Overall meh. Options aren’t great and prices are high. They’ve got captive audiences because of the Lake Shore Limited trains’ long layovers

If you’re on the evening westbound layovers, it seems June’s and Son of Egg are better options (except Sundays)

Staff are also surly. Not rude but def not friendly

Oh and be warned about the $5 card payment minimum

Waited 15 minutes for a sandwhich, and when I asked how much longer it would take they were super rude. And they hadnt even started making it yet. I left because I needed to catch a train. Never got the sandwhich. They owe me 8 bucks.

Don’t waste your time or money. My blt was the only thing made fresh and it was burnt to a crisp and no mayo. Yogurt is Aldi brand. Mac n Cheese is nothing special and watery. Ham n cheese sandwich came premade. I asked to put turkey on my blt and they said they would put bacon on their premade turkey sandwich. Grind and Brew has you cornered thinking their food is a better option. It is NOT. Amtrak has way better food at their cafe and cost the same if not less. Not to mention not a single person working at Grind and Brew is welcoming or smiles.

So, I was on an Amtrak trip and had a layover, so I stopped by this spot. Honestly, it was a great find! The big windows were perfect for soaking in the atmosphere and watching the trains go by while I ate. I grabbed a cafe latte, chicken burgers with cheese, and a beef noodle cup everything was tasty. Definitely a solid place to grab a bite if you're ever in the area!

$10 for a chicken wrap seems a bit steep. It was ok but for the money it could have been better.

Do yourself a favor, if you have a layover in Albany, walk 5 minutes outside the station to Son of Egg for a quick bite and you will have a far better experience than rude staff, and soggy fridge sandwiches :( :( :( plus the walk and fresh air is great after a long train ride!

Our train stopped so had time to get a hot beverage. Ordered a London Fog Latte. The staffer at the register was a little gruff, and frustrated with my order, but the Barista made it perfectly, with lavender, vanilla and extra foam.

The seating area was reasonably clean. There were plenty of other food and drink optioins.
