I had never been here before. I was so happy that I found it while out for a drive. Great items for sale as unique gifts. Staff was very friendly. I chose the chicken salad sandwich - which was very fresh and delicious. I also had lavender lemonade and flourless chocolate cake - yummy. I sat for a bit, met some other visitors. They have a nice outside area with tables and peaceful atmosphere. Will go back for sure - I wish I had bought some things, but didn't expect to find this place. Need to revisit and shop.
Absolutely delightful. The decor is quaint and the sodas were superb.
Great for breakfast. Dog friendly outside 😊
Excellent bakery except for their ridiculously small scones. They are more like nuggets. I’d rather pay more for a decent sized scone.
Discovered some wonderful new gift ideas and had a nice lunch, as well!
Great food and service quaint and cozy. Very enjoyable
Adorable place - especially scenic in the fall! Great coffee, next time I will try some pastries!
Homey, comfortable, nice menu selections, delicious brownies, friendly service! Sweet attached retail shop. Grounds and surroundings are pretty. Easy parking.
Wow, this little store has been many things over the years, including my grandfather’s paddock and tack shop when I was a small child. It is now a café and has a little art gallery. They an outdoor seating area and it is absolutely delightful. I’ve never seen it and the town, Vischer’s Ferry, looks so good as I did when I came through here. Definitely worth a stop. it’s family friendly lots of outdoor space for kids to run around and the people who work there are really nice
We finally made it to Vischer Ferry General Store and it was worth the wait! The cafe and gift shop are so inviting and they even have a nice space for small events or private parties upstairs. We grabbed a sandwich from the grab-'n-go case since we arrived a bit too late for the kitchen service and it was so good! We will be back for a breakfast sandwich, for sure. The gift shop has many choices for anyone on your list -- or yourself! -- and a nice selection of specialty foods. When you go, be sure to check out the custom candles with scents and designs by owner, Louise. She carries some of my favorite scents from Paddywax Candles, too. The community vibe is evident in the communal table area and there is a lovely outdoor area, as well. Such a gem of a cafe and retail space! ~Becky Tyre, Retail Details

Lovely place, unique gifts, good food, very pretty grounds.
Attended my first class at VFGS this evening, Making Sour Dough Bread. Well done! Abby explained things so well. This class will definitely need a follow up. Thank you Abby!
VFGS is my Thursday place to be for lunch with an old friend. The atmosphere is welcoming and eclectic; there is always new and interesting merchandise to peruse. But...the food is what always brings us back...oat milk chai, lemon scones, chocolate chip sea salt cookies and the breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage...and chicken salad and soups that change weekly and are all delicious! The staff is friendly and efficient and remembers your name and your preferences. A hidden jewel in our community that I am so grateful for!
Been here a handful of times and absolutely adore this place. The chocolate chip cookies with sea salt are life changing and worth the drive from anywhere in the capital region. They are crunchy while somehow still slightly gooey in the middle and balanced perfectly with quality salt. The shop is the perfect place to visit when seasons are changing and you want to redecorate the interior or exterior of your home. So many quality handmade items and my favorite cozy crewneck sweater proudly says Vischer Ferry General Store. It’s gone on every trip with me.I’m a nature enthusiast and visit the Vischer Ferry Nature Preserve often and it’s never a complete trip without stopping by here. Makes for the perfect day.
Updated review/March 2024: VFGS continues to impress. The Americano is always spot on (unlike their peers), the scones are always spot on, staff is ALWAYS pleasant (unlike everywhere else) and they are super community focused with workshops and other community events including an owl display and a variety of classes. Would give more than 5 stars if I could.
December 2023 Review: I am so thankful to have a nice coffee shop like this in the community since everything seems to be up at Exit 9 instead of exit 8 they have a limited menu and Limited hours but the place is Charming and definitely worth a visit. They also have a terrific outdoor area for sitting outside and eating
