A gem in quiet and scenic Rhinecliff - where delicious comfort food meets refined elegance and sophistication (that doesn’t feel stuffy or pretentious). It’s like going to Mom’s house for dinner with warm, friendly greetings and home cooked comfort food for everyone and every taste. We absolutely loved our experience there. My wife took me for my birthday on our trip to Rhinebeck from NYC. The staff, especially our waitress Barbara were so delightful and welcoming. Started off with their pigs in a blanket (with everything bagel seasoning) because nothing says comfort food better than that and we were not disappointed! Their chicken pot pie? Has to have been one of the best chicken pot pies I’ve EVER had. My wife absolutely loved her chicken milanese (so tender) and perfect glass of rosé and their specials like their incredible apple crisp pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert were heavenly. My Kips gin cucumber fizz was so refreshing I HAD to have two. We walked out with full bellies and a big warm smile. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Rhinebeck/Rhinecliff.

We love Kips and come regularly. The setting with views of the Hudson River and sunset over the Catskills is hard to beat on nice summer or fall evening. We do wish the menu would feature some new items as the menu has not changed in years. On occasion there are great specials (scallops with Calabrian chili for example) but we are starting to feel like we're in a rut.

Kips has been open several years. I hadn't been there in a year because the food was disappointing, although the view and setting are gorgeous, right by the river. A friend and I went last night with no reservation. We weren't able to sit outside but the light inside is also very nice. And the food was really excellent. Maybe it's a different chef? I was great. I will be back soon.

Kip’s location and ambience is lovely. Unfortunately out of pigs in a blanket tonight 🥴 and didn’t have the top to the chicken pot pie - Friday night at 5:30!!!! Mushroom toast was cool and barely toasted. Much potential but some little tweaks would be beneficial.

Kips is our favorite Friday night restaurant. The food is always reliably good and the service is friendly and prompt. I celebrated my birthday there this past Friday and it was a particularly special evening. Christopher, Barbara and the entire staff always make us feel at home.

For starters my mother ordered a drink and the server never brought it out. I got a steak and asked for it to be cooked medium well, when my steak came out I found that it was cooked to be completely rare. I was extremely disappointed in this. My family all thought their food was just okay, which shouldn’t be the case when you’re paying 24 bucks for a burger. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant mashed potatoes. You would think that with such a limited menu all the items would be out of this world but that was not the case. I would not come here again.

Super friendly waitress. The appetizers (split pea soup, roasted beets and bread) are amazing. I love the chicken pot pie, tuna was good and dessert chocolate pot de creme is delicious. Will be back

I wanted to love this place. The atmosphere and the food was fantastic but oh, the service:(. I made a reservation and when we arrived on time, was told we had to wait a few minutes for outside seating. It turned out to be a half an hour. Then, when we went to be seated, another staff member seated someone at our table who had just walked in. We waited another 15 min and the host/bartender was not apologetic but.annoyed like it was our fault?! Then, we sat for another 20 min waiting for someone to come take our order. Waited again for our appetizers and bread. We were the last table to leave at 9:45 pm and we arrived at 7. Expensive and disappointing. .

Came here alone for dinner one evening and sat at the bar.
The barmaid was lovely, food was good, and atmosphere was just what I needed.
A quiet secluded establishment for low key vibes.
