A gem in quiet and scenic Rhinecliff - where delicious comfort food meets refined elegance and sophistication (that doesn’t feel stuffy or pretentious). We love Kips and come regularly. The setting with views of the Hudson River and sunset over the Catskills is hard to beat on nice summer or fall evening. We do wish the menu would feature some new items as the menu has not changed in years. On occasion there are great specials (scallops with Calabrian chili for example) but we are starting to feel like we're in a rut.
Kips has been open several years. I hadn't been there in a year because the food was disappointing, although the view and setting are gorgeous, right by the river. A friend and I went last night with no reservation. We weren't able to sit outside but the light inside is also very nice. And the food was really excellent. Maybe it's a different chef? I was great. I will be back soon.
