Top notch eatery in Dutchess County. The bar is extremely classy and expertly tended. If you've got some extra coin and are looking to make your food dreams reality put The Local on your list. Great service. I was disappointed that the expensive red wine I selected came very cold. Our server recognize the issue before serving and recommended letting it warm up but it was just too darn cold. Granted it was about 2 degrees outside and I'm sure the cellar was all out of sorts, you should pull some of your more popular Reds and get them to room temperature before hand. I hope you're not serving those $800 bottles at 45 degrees...

Tough to provide a real review as my husband, daughter and I only stopped in for a quick drink and dessert during the Rhinebeck Sinterklaas day festival. But it was a great looking place, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, the drinks were first rate and the dessert top notch. If I didn't live an hour away I'd certainly return soon - as it is I'm going to remember to come back as soon as I can.

The food was delicious, the service was perfect. The most impressive thing was that after we left the restaurant I got a call saying that I had left something under my seat (it had been my birthday dinner and I left a gift). By the time I got the message I was back in Atlanta, GA. So Brynn, the woman who contacted me, popped it into the mail for me. In this day and age when things no longer feel personal, this was a huge boost and says a lot about the staff at The Local.

We had a great time! Cool open kitchen let's you see what's going on. Or you can sit on the out on the porch if you like. Either way the food is delicious.

Everything from the homemade cornbread to the best fried chicken I've ever had made my visit here extraordinary. Great deserts too.

We had been meaning to pay The Local a visit for some time and finally made our way there on Saturday. Everyone seems to adore this place. Our reservation was mildly honored - we had to wait about fifteen minutes for our table. It was another fifteen minutes before our waiter stopped by for our drink order and another twenty for the drinks to be delivered. When we placed our dinner order we were warned that the kitchen was very slow and we should probably order appetizers as well. We weren't starving so the main course seemed appropriate enough for the evening. While waiting for the food to arrive I ordered a glass of red wine to go with my lamb chops. Another fifteen minutes. The chops came and the chops were almost finished when the wine finally made it's way to the table. The food was really really good and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. As the dinner plates were being cleared my wife asked a back server what was in the little glasses that everyone, except us, was being served. Turns out it was a cold soup that came with the meal except they forgot us. As the back server was explaining the missed soup opportunity a bread server passed by and asked if we received our bread. I was wondering what those two empty plates on our table were for. The bottom like for us was the food was really great and the service was really horrendous. It is unacceptable to have bad food at a restaurant. Bad service is less unacceptable but can really put a damper on an experience that should have better.

Favorite dish - duck two ways! I order it every time.
