I was at the Black River Ale house along side one, Michael Farnsworth. This guy ate the whole sandwich with a smile on his face, was pleasant to the bartender and waitress and didn’t complain about anything. He also was repeatedly farting and going to the bathroom, i found it weird how many times he would go. I am confused at his review and the wait time on his sandwich was far from 20 minutes, it’s also wing night at the bar which is obvious, so what kind of moron orders a steak sandwich when you can get .75$ wings? Something’s wrong with this guy! If he was looking for fine dinning he should have taken his sorry rear end back to Syracuse! ALE HOUSE FOR LIFE

Michael Farnsworth gave this place a bad review but he ordered a prime rib sandwich on wing night ( busiest night of the week). Guy deserves the worse experience. YOU WANT THE BEST WINGS IN ROME WITH THE BEST ATMOSPHERE AND SERVICE IN TOWN!?!? Here’s your spot. Don’t be afraid to spark up a conversation with the person next to you because they are eager to talk. If you want a quiet, lonesome drink, a meal to yourself. And contemplating your life decisions like Michael Farnsworth, do us all a favor and go the applebees across the street you’ll be better received. If you want great conversation, a stiff drink and the best wings in the city of Rome, Ny, welcome to the ale house.

Just moved back here to Rome, so I thought I would try it on a Wednesday night to see what it was like . . . didn't realize that it was such a dive . . . I'm by myself so I bellied up to the bar to have a beer and some dinner after work, The bar was full of drunken loudmouth jerks, The bartender for some reason couldn't take my food order, ordered a shaved prime rib sandwich that took about 20 minutes to come out, in a little paper bowl, sloppy with no fork, the meat hanging over the edge of the roll was cold . . . a person who I presumed was a waitress brought it out to me and called me "honey," she wanted payment right away, I didn't tip her although she was waiting for one, I'm not sure what she did for me other than walk a cold\lukewarm sandwich out 25 feet from the kitchen to where I was sitting at the bar . . . okay, so now I know it's a dirty little dive, and it'll be my last visit

Was having a great time until. One local called me out at the bar. The whole bar asked me to leave. Dude is obviously the problem. I left and noticed everyone leaving after me. Get your stuff in order, you have good food and good friendly locals except for one. . I was having a great time and made lots of townie baddies until then.

My experience was great! I ordered 20 wings split between bbq and medium garlic. The wings had amazing flavor and the perfect crispness that you would want in a wing. Out of all the places I have traveled, which is a lot.. These wings were in my top 5 favorite. I highly recommend!

The hidden gem of the area, tucked away beneath a Goodyear. It's not a place you'd likely ever find by accident. The people here...the owner, the other patrons, and the bartenders in this little Cheers-like hole in the wall are probably the best thing about Rome. Was instantly welcomed as part of the family from the first time I walked in. Even though I was in New York, I felt like I was at my local bar back home in Mississippi. The food is well worth the price, and the drinks are probably the best deal you'll find anywhere--a nice escape after a long day of work! Enjoyed it so much, I came back for dinner every night during the week I was in town. If I'm ever back in the area, it's probably a safe bet that you'll find me here.P. S. - Highly recommend trying the 'Everything' wings.
