We like to pick new restaurants along a route to our kid's college and on this trip we picked Rome NY. The Delta Lake Inn was high on the Trip Advisor recommended list so we stopped there late on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It took a few minutes to get seated in a nearly empty restaurant & bar. There is an adjacent golf course, and a recreational lake nearby. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and quite delightful. We ordered the Deep Fried Deviled Eggs -- I always check the menus before we go visit a place and that item intrigued us. A half dozen egg halves, deep fried whites with seasoned filling topped with bacon pieces, and chili garlic sauce were delicious. The buttery herbed bread was fresh out of the oven and devoured. We ordered the super cheesy French Onion Soup, creamy Shrimp & Crab bisque, apple walnut salad with added salmon, short rib gnocci, and finally a juicy Delta Burger with sidewinder fries. The gnocci was super tasty, with sundried tomatoes and portabello mushroom slices, chunks of beef and an intensely flavored sauce. The generous portion was so large, I had to take half the gnocci with us in a take out container. (BTW, they had the best leftover container I've ever seen, with an attached lid and steam vents.)

My experience here is very hit or miss. A month ago my wife and I had the best steaks of our lives there. Yesterday, we took my in laws and her aunt out for dinner. We ordered 5 steaks. 3 were undercooked and one was over cooked. The server seemed annoyed when we asked for the 2 undercooked to be cooked a bit longer. Not a great experience when you spend almost $300 after tax and tip.

We had our daughter and son in laws rehearsal dinner at Delta Lake Inn. We were so pleased with every aspect of our evening. The service was so attentive and friendly, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was so welcoming and comfortable. We could not be happier with our special evening there. Again, the food was amazing. People are still commenting about how great it was. Thank you so much for a memorable evening!

Lived in the Rome area for years but we hadn't been to Delta Lake Inn yet. Hubby and I went this past Friday night. The place was busy but we had no wait. We sat out on the balcony to enjoy the beautiful night and sunset off the lakeview. Although it was later when we arrived, we were still able to take in the last few colors before the light disappeared behind the trees.
Our server was attentive and, although helping others, never forgot us. Hubby had the Special. I forgot the name but it was a clam, mussel, shrimp blend over eggplant in a tomato-based sauce (see pic), not my 1st choice but he said it was "good" . I had the prime rib dinner, which was tender and very good (sorry, but Eddie's Sylvan Beach prime rib sets a high bar). Seafood Bisque was amazing ?! And warm seasoned bread. Our appetizer was the fried deviled eggs, which I highly recommend! (Pic is the last one of the 6--because they were so good I forgot to take a picture until the end.) Wine for me, Guinness for him. The entire meal, was $100-but it was a date night and we wanted to splurge. SEVERAL other meal choices priced well-under ours, too in case you want a few less costly, but delicious options. Overall a great experience, great view and excellent food.
