I've been to several Tropical Jerk locations (Uniondale, Baldwin), and I’d say this Roosevelt spot is the least crowded, which is a big plus. The parking lot does fill up quickly because of other places on the strip, so keep that in mind when you head over.
A heads-up for breakfast lovers: many Jamaican spots, including this one, stop serving breakfast pretty early, so if you're in the mood for ackee and dumplings, make sure you get there early enough!
Speaking of which, I had the ackee and fried dumpling. The ackee was tasty but a bit watery, which knocked it down a bit for me. On the flip side, the fried dumplings were great size, crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and at the ideal temp.
Pricing is standard for Jamaican spots in the area, so you won't find anything too out of the ordinary there. One thing to note is that they don't take over-the-phone orders, so I recommend calling ahead to check if they have what you're craving before making the trip

The hostess was not friendly. She tells me I ordered more than I ordered. The chicken was dry. The cabbage was not cooked fully and I could hardly taste the jerk on the chicken. It was just a awful. It’s awful ROOSEVELT. TROPICAL JERK is not good. Don’t go there.‼️🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

The Service is The Worst Service on Long island. Ive been going there since they opened. And im fed up with them. They start serving little bit of food.. all i order everyday is a rice and pease and vegg. Everyday. And the females that taking orders always get the order wrong 11/26/2024. She gave me a small of Alll rice and oxtail gravey. No vegg. And she always do this. Then the young guy servers serve little portion of food. Sophie has to do better

The relatively new morning cashier is extremely rude. However the server and food are excellent. . She also picks up the phone and hangs up immediately. I just want to find out the Soup of the day as it tends to change. Unacceptable. She rarely says greets you politely unless you initiate.

My preferred go-to restaurant in this chain. I really enjoy their jerk chicken as it is moist tender and flavorful when done right. Favorite is barbie fry. Other items are good as well. Like the selection of breads and bubs. No seats, even a few while you wait would be good. The wait can be long at peak times as staffing is limited at times. Still recommend. Reasonable price. I've ordered for delivering as well.
